How to Save Money at Heartsong Spay/Neuter Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I went to Heartsong with a cat that is not mine but I feed her. I noticed over the past 2 years she had 3 litters.. way too many cats. I decided to have her fixed. She is friendly, so I put her in a pet carrier the night before and took her to Heartsong the next day. The employees were great. Picked her up at 2pm. I guess she was in heat so they told me to isolate her for 14 days. She is doing great. Would like to thank Heartsong for providing this affordable spay and neuter clinic. You do a great job helping keep the stray cat population under control.

Great community service for a fair price. Recently got our puppy spayed. We had a kitten neutered and have gotten all the needed shots including Rabies. Also got heartworm meds for puppy and deworming for kitten. Pictures of puppy surgery site attached. 6 days post surgery, healing nicely.

I’m not going to lie, my experience with Heartsong has been very negative. We booked a spay appointment, seven months ago, and at the end of February their surgeon had an injury. Obviously, it is understandable and hard to avoid, but our appointment was not canceled until the night before, three weeks after the surgeon was injured. We should’ve received a call far before that. We were then promised that we would be rescheduled sometime before the end of the month, this did not happen. After trying to call a literally 50 times and no one answered, I drove up to Clearfield, where there is a sign on the door, telling us they are closed for the next few weeks. They were able to change their answering machine to tell us when the surgeon was injured, but didn’t mind it to change the answering machine when they were actually closed altogether. Obviously, I recognize there are certain circumstances which are unfortunate and things you cannot plan for, but the way that heart song has handled, those has been incredibly unprofessional, and I definitely will not be returning.

This is not the place to take your pet to be spay or neutered! They killed my loving, happy, healthy little puppy yesterday...they schedule far to many pets at a time and do not watch over them carefully after surgery. They tell me they did everything that they could but this should not happen - ever- not in this day and age. There are medications and procedures available at full service clinics that would handle this and not let it happen. Putting a little 4 month old puppy on a heating pad on a cold cement floor in the corner of the room after surgery is not ok. I will be forever sorry that I tried to save money by taking my sweet little puppy to this horrible place. DO NOT TAKE THE CHANCE GETTING YOUR PET SPAYED OR NEUTERED AT THIS CLINIC - it is not worth the money you might save to lose your best friend. By the way the did tell me they should charge me for killing my dog because of the time it took to work on him. They did me a huge favor by not charging me? Also they block bad reviews and move only the positive reviews to the top of their review page - Beware of this unethical practice!

I did have to call a few times before someone answered the phone but once they did the lady was professional and let me know when I could go in for a rabies vaccine. I went at the time she said and the lady who helped inside was also very polite and I was in and out of there within 15 minutes and the visit was only $15.
