How to Save Money at Navarro Small Animal Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
The most incompetent veterinarian I’ve ever had the unfortunate pleasure of running across. We had an operation on our dog on his ear. We were given verbal aqua therapy approval on the dog, which we took care of, and put a donut around his head so he could not aggravate his wound it ear. we were sent home with two pain pills yes that’s right two pain pills if someone is going to spend over $1000 on a dog what would hinder that person from spending another hundred dollars to get the proper medication this very young veterinarian is not business minded, of course she wants to do an additional surgery but guess what she wants more money. This whole business is based on money, but when you do not perform professionally in your giving career, it comes out of your back end not mine if you care about your pets, which we all feel that they are extension of our lives go some where else now I will be caught up in a legal battle to get my money back because she did not perform the surgery properly nor even call back after five days after the surgery. I had to reach out to her and explain what was going on. She wanted to see the dog in on the sixth of the following month which would’ve put it out 2 1/2 weeks , she is there for the dollar only. I’m sure it cost a lot when you take over an older veterinarians establishment but you can’t guarantee that you will have all of that previous veterans customer base to bank. Roll your investment into your new business. She is money hungry and cannot handle talking to the people that pay her bills which are the customers another classic environment of don’t rattle me because I will leave . The victoria grapevine just found out. She was asked to leave the last place she was working because she kept missing vital situations! She has worked at CrossRoads ,Lone Star, & somewhere in Cuero before buying out Culbertson’s practice Update cost $350.00 to have Woody our dog taken care of properly . Isn’t that unbelievable she charged over $1000 we really got price gouged 🤬

Being a Senior Citizen and on a budget, every dollar saved helps out. We have been using Navarro for almost 5 years and paying for thr heartworm and flee medicine at every visit. We notice that we could order online for $102.00 and they are charging $180.00 for the same medicine. Alot of savings, so we ask for a prescription so we could order online. They said there was $10.00 charge for prescription, this after our dog just had his physical and we was charged $150,00. Don't see how writing a prescription should cost more.

Be leery of any clinic that won't tell you upfront prices before you go. I called looking for price on a CBC panel. They refused to give me one, saying they had no idea if the doc would want one or not. I would have to come in and pay the office visit before learning the price of a CBC. Well I already know that's what's needed, thank you. Their competition, both Crossroads and Main St had no such problem giving the truth of their prices, and they were quite polite about it. I get that some people don't need to know prices before they go. Lucky them. But for anyone else that does have to work within a budget; this clinic doesn't care. Call around before you go anywhere!! There are cheaper places with honest and upfront pricing. The way I see it, any clinic that doesn't disclose prices doesn't actually care about you or your pet or your budget. They care about getting you in the door and dollar signs. There is no other reason to refuse to give pricing, and claiming ignorance of what the doctor might want is no excuse to not be honest when someone asks for a specific price. If they cared, they'd understand if you need to go elsewhere to a place you can afford and they'd wish you luck. So we'll be going anywhere but Navarro. SHOP AROUND, FOLKS!!
