How to Save Money at H-Town Veterinary Specialists (Stafford)
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I have 3 dogs and a cat. I don't even live in Houston but, I went for P.A.L.S. because of custom Ortho device and boots for my dogs Achilles disease (which I couldn't possibly recommend or value the work and excellence more. PALS allowed the quality of life my dog deserved) the veterinary folks without even being the reason I was there specifically were kind and generous with their time and consideration of my dog who needed to be wrapped before we couldn't proceed forward. Even carried her to the car (she's like 78lbs. Incredible wrapping her foot until I could drive back the next week) Honestly, it just made me sad I didn't live in Houston to be closer to these great individuals who practice not just for monetary reasons but heart as well.. H-Town Vet Specialists and P.A.L.S. collaboration are difference makers, thank you.

Our cat came home with a broken leg and H-Town did the surgery to fix him up. We're still going through the followup care but everyone here has been wonderful. I highly recommend H-Town.

I'm very glad that I chose H-Town Veterinary Specialists when my dog was having problems with his knees. Everyone we spoke to was kind, patient, and knowledgeable. They explained the surgery that was needed, instructions for after surgery, and were there to answer all of my questions throughout the recovery process. Even with an older dog (Radar is 10ish) we've had amazing outcomes! Radar is already back to waking me up at dawn and acting younger than he is. In the future I will absolutely bring any dog of mine here for any orthopedic concerns.

Dr. Jones, Dr. Beale, Rene, Scott and the Htown vet staff were instrumental in allowing our dog to make the international move to the middle east with us, while giving us peace of mind that his hip replacement would help him live out his best dog life in a place without options for treatment. Our five year old German Shepherd Orbit had healed amazingly from hip dysplasia surgery on one hip, and elbow dysplasia surgery as a puppy. He had not displayed any signs of lameness, and was extremely active for the past four years. Our family found out we were moving to the middle east and two months before the move , we took Orbit in for a set of baseline radiographs as part of his long term follow up of successful hip and elbow dysplasia surgeries. We were not expecting to find out that his x-rays showed signs of muscle loss in his untreated hip, and made him a good candidate for a total hip replacement. We had to make a difficult decision. Dr. Jones spent many hours discussing the pros and cons of doing a THR, made more complicated by the fact that his recovery would mean he would have to stay behind to heal. Dr. Jones and his team prioritized our case, and worked diligently to size, procure the implants, and schedule Orbit’s THR. Dr. Jones walked us thorough the actual procedure, and pre- and post op steps in detail. The post- op debrief with Dr. Jones was extremely detailed and thorough. After a successful surgery, Dr. Jones and the team at Htown vet supported our family through the recovery process by means of international phone calls, photos via text, videos and emailed questions. Each person on the team was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and played an important role in getting Orbit healthy for his big move. The team prioritized and accommodated for Orbit at each step along the way, even though his temperament at the vet is terrible, to say the least. Orbit has made a full recovery, flew to the middle east, and was reunited with us, all compliments to the Htown vet team. You will not find this level of specialized and expertise care, delivered with professionalism and empathy, anywhere else. I highly recommend Htown vet for any orthopedic issues.

Dr. Jones and Dr.Beale are the best orthopedic surgeons that anyone could ever ask for! They’re artists. They’ve both performed their amazing artwork on our labradoodle . He had his first CCL rupture in May of 2023 on his right leg and the 2nd one on his left leg a few months later. We could keep on praising. Their staff members are the best and very professional. Thank you Dr. Jones and Dr. Beale! Margie H
