How to Save Money at BluePearl Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Blue Pearl is my go to emergency care , no hesitation. I’ve had fur babies have to be hospitalized, multiple surgeries and needed follow ups and even got help over the phone during interstate travel. They’ve been there for all of it. Staff is amazing and ER and surgery teams are quick to respond. I always feel like they care and want to do what’s best for pet and owner. They help me with information to make hard decisions. I strongly recommend Blue Pearl for urgent care needs.

We took our Max in to Blue Pearl for the removal of a mass on his hind leg, not knowing what it was and whether it was a cancerous growth or something less concerning. After having a consult with Dr Latimer, he reassured us that his thoughts, prior to the procedure, were that it likely wasn’t a super aggressive growth and after discussing all options, Blue Pearl worked with our budget and we got costs lowered by removing overnight stays and prescriptions we filled off site. We decided to move forward, surgery was promptly scheduled and completed successfully! The next day, Max bolted after a squirrel and popped his stitches 🤦♀️ so we called to see what to do. Blue Pearl told us to come on in asap to redo stitches and we were not charged additional. We are very pleased with Blue Pearl and will 100% return for any future issues we encounter. It is expensive, but the expertise, service and quality of the care is what you are paying for.

The other day, we had to bring our cat to BluePearl because he was completely blocked. I was very scared and worried because I never had an emergency situation with any of my past pets growing up. They immediately took care of my Felix despite it being a busy night for them. Dr. Johnson was the veterinarian that night. She is a very great vet! She is very detailed, patient, and took the time to listen and to explain everything that was going on. In terms of treatment options, they did not pressure us on getting the most expensive one and were respectful about us taking the time to make a decision. The rest of the staff were amazing as well! Everyone was very accommodating and friendly which definitely helped me calm my nerves. Felix has been recovering really well at home. We just came back from our primary vet for a follow up, as what Dr. Johnson advised, and Felix is A-okay! Thank you very much for taking great care of our baby Felix 😄

I highly recommend Blue Pearl in Spring TX. The staff is excellent, the Dr’s and surgeons are phenomenal and the care teams are amazing. You are informed regularly about your pets progress and wellbeing! They will even send you photos! The staff is very welcoming, comforting and super friendly. My only complaint is that this facility does not do pet non emergency appointments- like wellness and vaccines. I would totally drive 45 min here to have wellness exams for my cats!!

We had to bring our dog here in the wee hours of the morning because he was bloating. They had to perform emergency surgery and he stayed for a few days. While there he received the best of care. I got twice daily updates and everyone was so nice. It made such a horrible and scary experience so much better knowing our boy was so well taken care of. They actually saved his life!
