How to Save Money at Animal Hospital of Rowlett
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I’ve been bringing my two cats to the Animal Hospital of Rowlett since June of this year. One of the main reasons I chose this clinic was because they advertise themselves as cat-friendly, and they truly are. They have a separate entrance and section specifically for cats, which is much quieter and more relaxing than other places where you often hear dogs barking. Everyone has all been incredibly friendly and always willing to help with any concerns I’ve had. I also attempted to use their boarding services recently, but due to a miscommunication, I wasn’t able to and had to find a different facility. However, Dr. Lynch personally reached out to me via text, which I found to be very thoughtful and gracious. She didn’t ignore the situation but instead took the time to work it out with me and assured me that she would address the issue to prevent any future miscommunication for other pet parents. The location is convenient, and their prices are fair. Overall, I’m very pleased with the vet care my cats have received.

We have been with them for 6 years now and no matter who you see, from desk staff to tech to veterinarian, everyone is fantastic. Their goal is always to make sure your baby is safe and feels as such. Absolutely wonderful people who really care and it shows!

A stray found us. Everyone here has been so kind and welcoming to Emma and her owners. I have never had a dog get so excited when we arrive at the vet.

Our family has been patients at the Animal Hospital of Rowlett for the past 15 years and we feel so blessed and thankful that 5 kitties now have been in their care since their very early lives. Dr. Carter is intelligent, personable, compassionate, competent, communicates extremely well whether news is good or bad, and is just about the kindest person you will meet. At this point she feels like a friend in addition to our highly professional veterinarian that cares for our precious pets. Most cats don’t enjoy visits to the vet, but even our most nervous baby is comfortable with her, they can all sense by how sweet and gentle she is with them! Sadly, we lost one of our beloved family members earlier this year due to rapid decline from kidney disease at 13 years old; but from diagnosis and since her passing they have been supportive to not only her, but our family as we went through everything. They were helpful, supportive and kind by treating her in every way possible while keeping her comfortable and happy in her final stage of life. We made the difficult decision to put her to rest at home and even received condolences from the Doctors and staff at AHRVM when they learned of her passing. We have also had a scare with pancreatitis in one of our cats at 8 years old, that required extensive treatment, extremely close monitoring and pretty intense aftercare, that without the experts at AHRVM would have taken his life. I’m happy to report after recovering he lives on healthy and happy 5 more years now and counting… I’ve had great experiences with all Doctors at the clinic - Dr Carter, Downes & Clary. We especially appreciate that in these 2 specifically complicated situations we’ve encountered with our pets over the years, they consult each other and work as a team when needed, to explain all options to us pet owners and leave no treatment option “stones unturned” - Even if it means calling their colleagues in the field for additional insight, providing a referral to another veterinary clinic/specialist or contacting a research institute that may provide additional insight into how to approach care. We could not be happier with this clinic and Dr Carter. Jayne, Huckleberry, Lola (😇), Archie, and Toby Sweeny love you!

I can’t express my gratitude and appreciation enough for this vet and their amazing staff. Unfortunately we had to put down our 8 year old husky Luna which was one of the hardest and saddest things me and my family has ever had to do but I cannot thank the staff enough and express our utmost gratitude for the entire staff that took care of us through that difficult process. They were extremely professional, understanding, empathetic, helpful and supportive through the whole process it really helped us get through the situation as hard as it was. From the bottom of my heart thank y’all for all you guys did to take care of our Luna girl it meant the world to me and my family and for that you guys are one of the best and only vets I will ever take a future pet to, Godbless you and your wonderful staff!
