How to Save Money at Vista Vet - Animal Hospital & Pet Lodge

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr. Roach, Nicole and the entire team are simply AMAZING! I have the highest trust and my babies. Indigo & River love their visits, the teeth cleaning is just incredible, annual check up, shots, medication, proper diagnoses and treatment plans, prices are so fair and top notch support when I was just not sure what to do. Bedside manner…superb! So friendly with a wee bit of humor. The facility is so clean front to back, this facility truly cares about every pet that enters the doors. They really go above and beyond to give the best care. This is my second year and not one thing has changed about their hearts. If you are looking for a honorable and amazing Veterinarian and staff for you fur babies and other pets, I highly recommend VistaVet for your pet care. You will not be disappointed! Thank you team for taking such great care of my fur babies we just LOVE YOU!

Dr. Roach & his staff are godsends! They have taken care of multiple family pets of ours & just recently assisted in laying to rest our 14 year old catahoula boy. They are all compassionate, empathetic, intelligent, & reassuring. I am so grateful for this team of animal lovers!

I just had the most incredible experience at Vista vet. The staff was 11/10 amazingly kind and the veterinarian was so sweet. Dr. Goodner came in and immediately grabbed a treat stick and before anything else gave my kitty a treat and some cat nip to build trust. He hesitated for a second and then dove in. He was super calm and comfortable the entire exam because of how they treated him. They talked in “baby talk” because cats love that. They didn’t pressure me or guilt me into anything I couldn’t afford. I KNOW my babies SHOULD get preventative full panels of blood work and stool samples run but sometimes it’s just too much financially and instead of making me feel bad they offered it and said it was recommended but whatever I was comfortable with today would be great. It was such a lovely visit and instead of feeling like I wanted to avoid the crummy feeling of coming back, I actually want to bring all my kitties here to establish care. Nicest people, kindest vet, no wait time, they do everything in the room to avoid animals being with each other in the lobby. It was so smart and efficient from start to finish. Thank you guys! We are so happy we went to you! Also VERY AFFORDABLE!!!!

All the people that work at Vista Vet are the top tier of human beings. They don’t only just care about your pets but they care about you as a Pet Parent. If i could Thank every single worker there I would for helping my babies Billy & Binx. All Vets and Pet Facilities should look toward Vista Vet as the apex example for how all others should operate. They will work hard to help your fur baby and are always understanding of your situations. They are good people, caring, great at their job. If you love your pets then you will love Vista Vet!

I moved to Georgetown roughly 4 years ago from Pflugerville and wanted a vet closer to home to take care of my Bull terrier. The normal check ups and when he would get sick they always were so friendly and explained what would be best for him. 4 years later I lost my best friend last week and had to say my final goodbye. Everyone that was involved was so caring and passionate and made such a hard decision to say my goodbye. Gave me all the time I needed with him before I was ready. What made make this review was getting a card in the mail signed by every employee there with passionate notes from all them. I really recommend them for any pet services.
