How to Save Money at Shadow Creek Veterinary Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The absolute best clinic to bring your fur babies! The level of comfort and hospitality is unmatched, we have brought our English bull dog, Sir Duke here since we got him last year in December and they have always been so loving with him. 99.9% of the time, as soon as we walk in they immediately come over to give him lots of love (he loves attention) and they always make him feel safe. He loves coming here because he knows that he will get treats and he knows that he’s going to be center of attention! 😂 (if you have a bulldog you know they’re giant babies that want your sole focus 24/7 lol) Everyone is always so welcoming and so respectful, they always engage with my daughter when she comes along and overall just a great place, with even better people. My interactions with anyone on the staff have only ever been positive & respectful ones. Truly the best vet clinic around. 10/10 would recommend!

I have never felt safer leaving my babies in the care of anyone. My cat had a dental cleaning yesterday the entire staff went above and beyond to make sure my boy Chief was looked after. Even when I was picking him up, nurses were all standing around his carrier cooing and telling him what a good boy he is. And after he woke up from anesthesia they sent me a picture (attached below) that just shows the level of love they have for each and every animal that comes into their care. Not to mention when I brought him in two weeks ago to schedule the cleaning, his vet remembered things I had told her in December of last year. I can’t compliment the staff enough for their compassion. Our pets are family and these wonderful people treat them as such.

I cannot recommend this vet enough. I brought in my skittish American Bulldog, Natasha, for ear problems and allergies and everyone from the receptionist to the doctor were just absolutely fantastic. She’s scared of new people and loud noises and both the vet tech and the doctor were absolute gems. They gave her plenty of treats and peanut butter and by the end of the appointment Natasha had made some new friends. We needed to swab her ears and the doctor was very gentle and gave Natasha reassurance the whole time. It was really nice to see. Natasha wasn’t scared or uncomfortable when we went out to reception. She was happy, looking around (probably for more peanut butter haha) and was readily interacting with the staff. The office is clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and obviously love what they do. We will be switching both dogs over to this vet clinic.

I absolutely adore this veterinary clinic! From Nancy to Dr. Labrenz, everyone here has proven to be very family-oriented when caring for your furry companion. In my experience, they display remarkable knowledge, compassion, and their communication is top-notch. They consistently go out of their way to keep you informed about your pet's health. While they can get quite busy at times, I urge you to be patient because they will undoubtedly get back to you. Their attention to detail is outstanding, and their rates are very reasonable. I'm thrilled that I chose this veterinary clinic; I genuinely appreciate all of them. They are exceedingly patient and understanding. Even though it's a quite a bit of a drive for me, I wholeheartedly believe it's worth it.

I can’t say enough about this veterinary. I adopted a dog and was given this veterinary as a reference. Every time I visit it is the most pleasant experience. The doctors and staff are so knowledgeable and courteous and make you feel Special. They go over everything in detail to make sure you understand their instructions. My dog even loves them. These people are so wonderful and professional. This will be my dog’s veterinarian for his life, heck I wish they were my doctor.
