How to Save Money at Ram - Spay, Neuter, and Wellness Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Thank you!!! I am so greatful for Dr. Ram and his team and their amazing job on my dog Wildfire. My dog had a hernia and was constantly bleeding for over a week. We did not expect to have the surgery done so quickly but Dr Ram was amazing. I cannot thank y’all enough for saving my dogs life. God bless y’all.

We are about 3 weeks post op from surgery and the care we received at Ram was amazing. Yes you’re going to have to dedicate an entire day if you want to see the vet but I believe it is so so worth it! I did a lot of research before hand on what my dog was dealing with and it was so refreshing to hear it from a professional and he was so patient and answered all my dumb probably ignorant questions (I’m new to the vet world) he was very thorough and reassured me and went over everything with me like possible risks and all different options. For an overthinker it was amazing how thorough he was in going over everything with me. I 100% am so grateful to have found Dr.Ram. And don’t even get me started on the affordability. I almost cried when they gave me my total! I really thought that I was not going to be able to afford the surgery. I was able to pay for her surgery and medications and supplies (provided by ram) and not have to go into financial ruins! I will mention that they did make a mistake. When I picked her up the only aftercare instructions we were given was to either let the sutures dissolve or come back in a week to remove them. When I got home I discovered she had a drain left in her! I called them and the lady apologized and let me know to come back in a week to remove it. No big deal but threw me off definitely but overall great service. Will definitely be bringing her back for check ups and regular visits in the future!

I was very pleased/grateful with Dr Ram and his clinic/ support staff. 7/11/2023 Took my 12 yo GS was peeing red and not very energetic -less than usual. Quickly diagnosed and estimate given. 2 days after treatment my ole buddy is almost back to normal. As a walk in had to wait from 3pm to about 8pm b4 we got out, but all in all I would do it again for my Buddy. Thinking of transfering all of my dogs to him from mission clinic. Good man EC

My chocolate Labrador, Daize, got spayed here. The staff was very friendly, and Daize had zero complications. We have recommended them to friends and relatives, and they have all been happy with their visits.

Long wait times without appointment and they won't allow appointments for vaccines. That said, the staff is phenomenal, it's a clean, modern facility and their pricing for services is the lowest I have found. They explain the services, effects of the medication, give pre-emptive instruction for complications and generally answer any questions or concerns. I really do like the facility and I love the staff. I just wish it didn't take 2 hours to get dog shots.
