How to Save Money at Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists Mansfield
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Losing your best friend is never easy. My sweet girl was diagnosed with cancer in 2023. When we moved to Arlington, I chose Thrive to continue Ruby's chemotherapy. She was treated several times, and every time, she was well taken care of. Then, a few weeks ago, she stopped eating. She was admitted overnight, but unfortunately she didn't improve. It turns out the cancer had spread. The doctors and techs did everything they could and were so kind and patient with me during this process. Ultimately, it was time to let her go. I felt very strongly about her being comfortable at home in her final moments. The wonderful team did not discourage me. Ruby passed the next day in the comfort of her home. The team at Thrive sent over the sweetest sympathy card, which felt so good to know how much she was cared for in the end. Should I find myself in need of their services again, I will not hesitate to bring my pets here.

Two days ago our Blue Healer went down and we had no idea why. We took her to a local vet but that seemed to be a waste of our time and money because they referred her to Thrive for surgery. By the time we drove the hour drive she took a turn for the worst. They got her seen really quickly. They gave me options on what they thought would be the best treatment. We ended up not needing surgery and are on our way to recovery. Thank you SO much Candace Richardson, Natalie Verdi and Grady Gray!! The staff was also VERY kind. They answered every question I had. They kept me updated on how she was doing when admitted and are constantly checking on us. I 100% will take her back in the future. Your fur babies are in amazing care at this facility!

Sadly, this isn't a happy review, but it is a good one. I was away in the UK when my parents brought in my baby girl, Moo, on the 6th of July, because she had been breathing heavily and had thrown up prior to being brought in. According to my parents, the vet that saw my sweet girl was appalled by a previous veterinary location having not suggested to me to bring my girl to them due to her heavy breathing. They were very kind and caring for my baby, and did what they could to care for her, and though she passed away while at the appointment, my parents reported that they were very thorough and quick with the care. To the poor vet and vet techs subjected to listening to my poor quality video recording of Bet on Losing Dogs, I apologize for your eardrums, and I also thank you for caring for my baby girl. I'm glad that even though I wasn't there, she was cared for and helped by kind people. Thank you.

Dogs come into our lives to expand our hearts and teach us about love. I can’t thank my own clinic, team of colleague doctors and specialists, technicians and staff …. enough. They all helped my own pup Sharky through his diabetic crisis and hospitalization while I was recovering from a c section delivery of a new baby girl on maternity leave. We in the veterinary profession need help too with our own pets, and I love my team! 🐶🐾❤️🩹

This team saved my cat Lazarus's life tonight. They quickly got him in and concisely told me what his condition was. Financial help is available through online credit approval (two options) this made all the difference. The process was very easy and I got a much better deal than I would have at any other place. The clinic is clean and the staff is friendly. I'm so, so glad I was referred to this hospital. The professionalism and care was unmatched today, I had visited two places before coming here. I recommend you go to this hospital first. It is a one-stop for all your pets medical needs and they have all the necessary equipment to take care of your baby. Thank you and may God bless you.
