How to Save Money at Liberty Hill Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I recently adopted a sweet dog named Xena from Marble Falls Animal Control, not realizing she hadn’t had her vaccinations. On my way home, I called them, and they immediately fit her into their schedule. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly kind and caring. They helped us schedule her spay for the very next day and explained the process clearly. The vet mentioned that if they found a scar, tattoo, or blue dot during the procedure, they would stop, ensuring no unnecessary steps would need to be taken. Their professionalism and compassion were evident throughout. When I picked Xena up after her spay, the vet tech who brought her out was so gentle and kind, and the front desk staff was warm and welcoming. Despite how busy they were, they never rushed me or made me feel unwelcome. Instead, they treated every person and pet who came in with genuine kindness and compassion. Their exceptional customer service has made a lasting impression on me, and I’ve decided to switch all my animals to their care going forward. They truly go above and beyond for both pets and their owners!

Could not be more grateful for the care and kindness my cat and I received during our walk-in appointment over the weekend. My cat had a seizure and I was obviously a bit of a mess bringing him in, but Dr. Hope Jensen spent almost 2 hours of her time educating me on everything I asked and caring for Milo in the process. I’m incredibly grateful and I’ll be switching my pets’ annual appointments to LH Animal Hospital moving forward. Thank you!

Our heeler has terrible allergies and was sick all the time. We had tried everything and nothing worked. He lived a miserable life. When he got so bad he scratched his eye open on a Sunday, I freaked out and called Dr. Lane. They saw him right away and were so kind and accommodating. They suggested a new medicine and different kind of food that had never been suggested to me before. Within a couple of days the itching stopped and in about a week his fur started growing back. Our Marshall is so happy we found Dr. Lane! We immediately switched our beagle over to his care as well. They have gone above and beyond for my pups

My dog has had a irritated swollen rectum problem for a couple months. I had been to 2 vets for his problem. None of them had a name for the problem, a diagnosis Or correct medication that noticeabley fixed the problem. As I am not much for process of elimination when it comes to the health of my pets...I once again searched for a vet and found Dr Matthew Lane at Liberty Hill animal hospitol...more than an hour away. Within 5 min he had a name for the problem..diagnosed the problem and prescribed what I believe to be a correct medication. Thank You Dr Lane for finally putting me at ease and my pets health on the way to recovery.

Destiny (Dezidezires)

Brought my kitten in today to get his shots so he could get neutered. The staff was very polite and welcoming, they always worked with me and my budget to make sure I could get done what was required without breaking my wallet, which I highly appreciated. I live quite far so it was almost my last option but after calling around and getting quotes and available dates I landed myself here and I am glad I did. I will definitely be bringing my furr babies here from now on.
