How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Banfield Kingwood has been our primary vet since 2017. We love how they make every pet owner feel that their pet is important. They are super caring. They are also very thorough in examinations and finding/resolving health issues. ❤️❤️

We are new to this area and didn't have a vet, yet. Our old man kitty became very sick. It was on Thurs. I set up an online appnt with another vet for the next day. But they called me to say they couldn't see him for 2 weeks. This couldn't wait. I called every place on google in our area - 12 places. They all said 'sorry, call ....' Some told me right off they couldn't see him for 2 weeks. But when I called Banfield in Kingwood, Sean was the only one who asked me what was going on with my kitty. He was the only one, of all the places I called, who asked and then he found a spot for them to see him early the next morning. He was so kind and understanding with me on the phone. I am so thankful for his kindness. When we arrived the next day, we went to the wrong location. I called the correct location (Kingwood) and was told to still come in, they will still take him. The staff was so concerned for my kitty, they examined him in the waiting area, enough to know he was in an emergency state and sent us to the ER with him. I am so grateful for Banfield in Kingwood and the kindness Sean and all the staff gave us. We found our Vet for any further needs with our other pets!

If you truly love your pet DO NOT take your pet to BanField in Kingwood!!!! This place is garbage. My family and I had to learn the hard way. We’ve been taking our dog here for a while for check ups, her allergies etc. After many visits and BanField taking our money they referred my dog to a dermatologist for her allergies. The dermatologist gave us medication and shampoo for her allergies. Our dog started to get weak, and Not eat. She didn’t want any water after the medication that was prescribed. After doing some investigating BanField didn’t let us know that our dog had a heart condition and the medication made her breathing difficult, fainting and weak. When we brought her to BanField they told us to bring her to the emergency clinic because they had an oxygen chamber. I questioned the dermatologist about why would they give her this kind of medication .The dermatologist said they gave her this medication based on the information that they had gotten from BanField. My precious dog is now Dead due to The Veterinarian at BanField. The Veterinarian is garbage and very cold hearted. The whole staff don’t care about your pet. They just want to pocket your money and they can care less about your animal! My baby is gone because of The Veterinarian at BanField!!!

If you want your animals to actually live, I'd avoid this place. I used to love banfield, back when you made appointments and the doctors came to the rooms and you saw the services being given. Now everything is drop off and rush through to make it past all the 20 dogs they booked that day. I've had wellness plans for 10 years for all of my animals. I took my chihuahua here. He had a noticeable hard marble sized bump on his lymph node. I knew it wasn't normal and I took him in. They played it off to being a "swollen salvary gland" and sent us off for 2 weeks to try medicine. She said if the medicine doesn't work we will do a biopsy and send it off. Well guess what the medicine didn't work. The first biopsy didn't "hold" during shipment and they had to do a second one. The biopsies upset the bump and it grew in size RAPIDLY after that. Once the results were finally in, it was confirmed he had a rare type of melanoma in his jaw area and lymph nodes. The doctor said im so sorry I really didn't think it was this severe. BUT I DID. and there was zero urgency on their part. The oncologist they referred couldn't see him for almost a month. My beloved pet died about 3 weeks later. I just took my OTHER chihuahua in. She had been coughing a ton and sounding like she had crackling in her chest and was wheezing alot. The doctor said her heart was bad and it's most likely her lungs filling with liquid BUT let's send you off for another 2 weeks with antibiotics JUST IN CASE it's an upper respitory issue. My sweet baby only made it 8 days, she died last night suffocating from her lungs filling with liquid. Again, there was ZERO urgency from these doctors to help my animal. Instead you are sent off for 2 weeks to "see" if a different treatment works first. In the span of 10 weeks I have had 2 of my babies die. My heart is sad and I am livid at the negligence shown by this vet staff. I am canceling all my remaining wellness plans and will never come back to a banfield.
