How to Save Money at Cinco Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Hands down the best veterinary practice I've visited! Everyone from the front desk to Dr. Lee are so friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable when it comes to the health of my pup. So grateful to have found such a wonderful vet close to home. Can't recommend Dr. Lee and his staff enough!

Dr. Lee and the rest of the staff are absolutely amazing. They are very knowledgeable and compassionate. Dr. Lee went over all the details for what was going on with my dog and really eased my mind after thinking I thought she wouldn’t make it long. Big thanks to everyone working here!

I can’t say enough good things about this practice! We’ve come to them twice now in emergency situations and even though they are not our primary vet (that will change with any other pets we have in the future) they have been there to provide excellent, extremely compassionate and knowledgeable care not only to our dog but to us as owners. This past week our elderly dog came up ill in the evening right before our vet was set to close. We remembered taking her to Dr. Lee years ago when she slipped a disk in her back and saw the they were still open, we gave them a call and they graciously said we could bring her in even though it was right before they were set to close. Unfortunately we determined along with Dr. Lee that the best choice was to put her down. The whole staff was so compassionate, offering all they could to bring comfort to us and our dog and even sent the nicest hand written card to offer condolences. I am so grateful and if we choose to get another pet I will be taking it to Dr. Lee and his team.

Extremely pleased with Dr. Lee and the vet tech staff at Cinco Animal Hospital. We found this office by mistake actually, I thought this was another location that our family frequents- but it was a welcomed mistake! My boyfriend and I were nervous taking in our beloved senior pup who began falling ill very suddenly. We had already spent almost $1,000 the prior weekend at the emergency vet. Dr. Lee spent almost an hour examining, going over the care plan, and answering all his questions about our dog. Dr. Lee is very kind and was honest/ realistic about our options, which is something we deeply appreciate. We really liked our old vet but we will be taking our two babies here from now on to see Dr. Lee.

Our pooch was diagnosed with glaucoma 3.5 years ago and had his left eye removed elsewhere. I had been initially apprehensive as the first vet we used was an opthalmic specialist but they were unable to make an appointment in a timely manner so we were forced to look elsewhere when his right eye showed signs of the condition, Happily, Dr Lee and his team were able to get us booked in immediately and provided a follow up visit after prescribing steroids to help the affected eye open where he was able to confirm the diagnosis. I truly felt Dr Lee was heartbroken with his diagnosis and what it meant for our pooch. A date for his operation was made. Dr Lee and his team showed remarkable compassion and dedication towards our pooch in his treatment and aftercare making follow up calls and returning calls immediately when we had a couple of concerns. Our pooch is making wonderful progress and adapting very well to being completely blind and I know Dr Lee will be genuinely pleased with his progress. I will not hesitate to use them in future.
