How to Save Money at UrgentVet
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Ms. Brooke and the vet here are my dogs saviors. My poor baby was brutally attacked by some dudes crazy dog, and then his cut got infected. I took him here and expected to be charged $500000000 but they were actually much cheaper than anticipated. The visit was quick and easy, we were in and out in 30 minutes and that was as a walk in. Imagine if you had an appointment. Brooke would fly through that in 5 minutes. Not only were they super good to my puppy but also very understanding of how to handle him. He is very energetic and loves people, but they were not even bothered by his running around in circles and jumping around. He is like a lunatic on crack. But they were so nice and good at handling him. Thanks Brooke and the vet that saw him today, y'all are the best. I've added a photo of him loving the wall art

I just want to thank the UrgentVet team in Irving for making the most difficult situation a little bit easier. My sweet Mali girl was just not good and I wanted to be sure I tried everything I could - they were so kind and patient and above all else honest. They took care of everything and made a terrible day, seamless. They even sent a sympathy card, including her paw prints!I will be forever grateful to the team - the kindness they show is unmeasurable.

We have never had to take Baby to the vet from any illness or anything other than keeping up to date with his vaccinations, and we use TCAP for that, I did call them and they advised to find a clinic for his care. Baby started to not eat looked very sad, and had lost some weight so I called a few vets around the area to see if they’d help take a look at him and try to do payment plan as I was financially not able to pay upfront for his care every single one said no, that they couldn’t do payment plans and did offer care credit (which I knew, I did not qualify for). Tuesday August 6th, I got home from work to find him curled up and didn’t look to good, his health declined significantly and he wasn’t eating or drinking water. so I decided to search some more and try to find a vet that would help me at least to take a look at him. I finally came across UrgentVet, where I spoke to Chandra, who after hearing my concerns she immediately asked me for his information and made us an appointment for that same day and stated that she would try and see what they could do, I then got there and was greeted by Eren the vet technician who took his vitals and got all his details for Dr. Aderholdt who then came in shortly after to explain everything that was possibly wrong with our baby! Given his condition and age, the best choice was to allow him to finally rest which was one of the hardest decision I’ve had to ever make for a pet! Dr. Aderholt and Eren explained everything in detail and allowed us some time with Baby before the process happened. I was then able to speak with Chandra who then explained that they covered the cost of the exam and for him to be euthanized which was overwhelming to me because of my situation at that moment. I made a small partial payment towards his private cremation and was given until a set date to finish the payment. Well after a few days I called and spoke with Chandra to follow up and update her when I’d be making the remaining payment, Chandra then gave me the news that as an office they decided to cover the cost of Baby’s cremation! The team that assisted me not only showed that they cared for my pet but for us as well, they showed what true community service was, they were compassionate, caring and supportive. We need more people like them in this world, that carry themselves with values that not only make a difference to the pets but in one’s lives as well, I had never been through anything like this with a pet and if I ever need service from them for any pet in the future, they are who I would most certainly be going to! Thank you so much Chandra, Eren and Dr.Aderholdt for everything you all have done for my daughter, our Baby and me from the bottom of our hearts we greatly appreciate your support and help in such a difficult time of need!

I was welcomed by Eren. The process was very fast. The building and room was extremely cleaned. They handled my chihuahua with so much love and care. The price was affordable. Anywhere else it would have been a lot more. We didn’t stay long at all!!! We made an appt online and they called back while I was driving in my way over. They are on top of their game!!! 🥰. I found a new vet place for my fur babies. - Thank you 🙏🏽 for taking good care of my Leo

If you’re looking for a vet that cares, talks slow and helps you understand what’s going on then this is the place for you. My dog is in the final stages of his life and she helped walk me through all the options, got down to my level and maintained eye contact. Got estimates for me and told me what each medication does. It’s hard finding a vet that you can actually trust. The price isn’t bad either. I will definitely be coming here with my other dogs when they need help. Thank you Urgent Vet, Brooke and Dr. haass 🙏🏼
