How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I made an appointment for 10am. And the FIVE times they called and texted me to confirm the appointment NEVER did they say I would have to drop my cat off all day and she would not be seen till the end of the day because the vet was in surgery. I would not have made an appointment for first thing in the morning. I went back in 3 hours later to check because I was told at 10am that the vet had 1 surgery and would see my cat first since she had the first appointment, and that it would be about an hour. They NEVER answer the phone. I tried for over an hour to reach someone and ended up having to drive 15 minutes back up there and stand at the counter for another 20 minutes just to find out what was going on with my pet. At 1 pm I sat there and watched 3 people go straight into a room and see the vet. One was a walk in and didn’t even have an appointment. I asked again when my cat would be seen and the vet came out and told me she would not be seen until the end of the day. She was extremely dismissive and condescending. Even though she was ahead of ALL of the other animals she had already seen. I took my cat and left. They had the nerve to charge me a visit fee before giving me my cat back. Even though they did nothing for her, and the vet didn’t even try to discuss the reason my cat was even there that day. I moved recently and was looking for a new vet. Needless to say it will NOT be a Banfield.

I hate giving this place even one star. Everyone, please avoid this place like the plague. What started off as a simple office visit has now turned into $900 bill, all we tried to do is cancel the puppy Monthly service plan since day one. Before we ever made a payment. Not only did they perform test that they did not notify us of, they are not accepting care credit as the stated. Please let me clarify. Day 1. We were supposed to be a total of $207 which became a total of $350 because they did a DNA test that we did not consent to. Day 2. We spoke with a representative for 30 minutes, they were trying to charge us a total of $400 for undiscounted services rendered. Which, conflicted from what the store told us, which was a total of $350. The representative did discount the total amount so we would pay $144 to close out our balance. The payment method we used in the store was not accepted. It’s specified on the contract that, care credit, was 100% accepted. Day 3. Further attempts to pay the balance and close it out was not successful. DAY 4. A new number of $900 emerged from I don’t know where, store associates refused to give us a print out of the detailed bill. Although they did allow us to take pictures of the bill. We were notified that the $900 balance was for services to be rendered in the future!?!?!? So they’re trying to collect the entire year of services when we have been trying to cancel the plan before we made our first payment. At every single step it has been unsuccessful. I don’t want anybody else going through the stress. Please be cautious when dealing with them. Avoid this place at all cost if Possible.

My dog crossed the rainbow bridge today. I had her longer than my kids and my husband. She was family. Let me tell you, Bansfield was the ultimate blessing to both of us. Not only were they super sweet to me, they sang to little Karma, served her a "last meal," hugged her and treated her like she was their own. We had a little funeral service in that room and I couldn't be more grateful. They gave exceptional care to both me and little Karma.. I would write more but it literally just happened and I'm emotionally overloaded. I couldn't recommend them more. A true blessing.

Used to love Banfield but customer service has taken a steep nose dive. After our contact has completed in 2024, we will not return.

We used to go to a different banfield until their doc left…but this one saved the life of one my babies because of Doctor Blessman. If you have babies that you love then ask for Dr. Blessman and also Sean in the front ( I hope I’m spelling his name right) they are all good people but the doc and Sean are the best
