How to Save Money at The Corner Vet at Houston Heights
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
From the minute I walked in, the Corner Vet treated us with the utmost care, respect and professionalism. The front desk and staff were so caring and thorough both physically and financially with my dog's emergency. They did everything they could, even calling her previous vet to see if they could use some of the same lab work to save me money! I could tell that my dog was really cared for and loved while she was there. The vet called me and took her time to answer all of my questions and explained everything that they did during the suturing of her wound. This is our new go to place for everything. Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience during a really scary time!

I have been coming here for my cat for 7 years. Never had issues. Very friendly staff. Dr. A is so caring and appreciate all the advice she gives. We had to put down our other cat and as terrible as that was the staff and vet made it as best experience as it could be. They are wonderful!

I didn't like the fact that certain charges for medicines were added without first consulting me. In addition, I thought more consultation about overall health and soliciting questions would have been helpful. I know business need to make money but customers shouldn't feel like it's all about the money. I wouldn't say I felt like that totally but definitely to a degree that didn't agree with me.

Everyone at the clinic is very friendly and we're very informative when i had a question. I did enjoy the visit with them tremendously however i am upset with their lack of communication within their team. On their website they were having a 50% off first wellness exam promotion that i was planning on using. I went in last Friday and when in the appt the vet tech mentioned the annual package they have and i asked about the 50% off promotion and was informed to tell the front desk about it. When checking out I had spoken to the lovely woman (i can't remember her name but she was the sweetest) at the front desk and she informed me that she didn't have the access to apply the promotion but if i was fine with it they would refund me on Monday (today) the 50% off portion of the wellness exam. I told her that was fine because I had no reason to believe there would be an issue so i paid the full price. I followed up with them today to talk with the manager about the refund and she told me that since it was the annual package the promotion won't be applied. I am fine paying the full price if that was what i was told by their staff but not once was i told that the packages and promotions could not be combined. If i was informed of that I wouldn't have any problem. There is a lack of communication within the team and staff regarding their promotion and packages stipulations. If an employee(s) say that i will be refunded or say nothing about issues arising from using the promotion with the package they recommended as a company you should honor and hold your employees accountable for what they say and fix the issue. If there was any question about whether the promotion and package could be combined at all then it should have been clarified within the practice before i was misinformed. Again I do not mind paying the annual package price but if i'm told something else by multiple people in the practice that is what i am expecting as would anyone else in this situation. It is hard to say if i will decide to go back again considering this was how the first visit with them went which is quite upsetting. I genuinely enjoyed the way they treated my dog and me and could tell she loved it there.

I’m very happy with The Corner Vet Heights services and their care for my 15 y/o dog, Juno. The appointments are easy, the vets and assistants are extremely kind and the service/product prices are affordable! I relocated here from FL about a year ago and it was comforting to have found this veterinarian. 5/8/23 Everyone was kind, compassionate and helpful. We had a scare due to her aging body and I felt we were in good hands. Thank you again.
