How to Save Money at Pet Care Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google

At first I was a little skeptical cuz of the low rating on reviews. But I have a friend who recommended this place because they take walk-ins. My whippet girl started having really bad diarrhea and refused to eat or drink for 3 days. We were having to syringe feed her water and she became lethargic. Her regular vet didn't have openings and I wasn't gonna drop 8k at Pet Dr 911 (it was the weekend) Pet Care took me in within 15 minutes of me calling them and I was seen within the hour. The receptionist was very friendly. The vet tech (Logan, I believe) was very thorough asking me questions and he was so sweet with my girl, she didn't feel nervous around him at all. The vet himself was also very kind with her ~ and also very kind to me. He asked me x amount of questions according to her diet, which she eats pretty healthy but I just don't know what she got into unfortunately to upset her stomach. So he gave her a B12 shot with also included anti-inflammatory medicine for her stomach. Alongside 5 days worth of anti-biotics for her stomach. He told me to come back if it doesn't get better. Low and behold within 3 days my girl is feeling herself again and her stomach is back to normal. I'm VERY thankful for Dr. Joines and his staff. I highly recommend this place if your dog needs a regular vet or if you need a same day appointment. 🙂 Also it's SUPER CUTE inside the office and waiting rooms lol.

I wanted to wait a while before leaving a review so that it was fair and not based on my emotions at the time. Overall I would say they are a good clinic. I have only had a handful of visits with them. I had 2 senior dogs that I knew were having health issues due to their age. My husband took our lab in due to a lump and also rectal problems. The news we received we kind of expected it. We had to make the difficult choice to put him down. We were able to be with him throughout the whole process of being put down. That was a year ago. This year unfortunately we had to put down our husky down as well due to her being in so much pain. This time we were not allowed to be in the room with her until she passed. Unfortunately we had to say our goodbyes and leave her there. I did not like that. I feel like they took away the last act of love I could have given her. Being with her til the end.

Awesome clinic! Everybody is so friendly and ready to help. I’m a new dog mom & I was looking for a Vet to get my puppy vaccinated and as soon as I called this place they were able to get him in the following day no problems. The Vet Dr. J is so kind and carinf towards all the animals. It’s always so much fun waiting to be seen because all the customers there with all there beautiful cats and dogs are always so friendly as well. Staff and Vet go above and beyond to help in any way. I love this place and definitely recommend to all my family and friends. Even if your just scheduled for vaccines I wanted the vet to exam my puppy because he had been sneezing they told me to wait a few minutes and there he was ready to help and get my puppy treated asap. Thanks to all the staff and Vet for all they do y’all are amazing!!!

I had a very nice and convenient experience here. My cat got an eye infection during the winter storm that took out Texas for a few days and all of the vets in the Brownsville were closed/without electricity...I was able to go in as a walk-in and they were even able to reschedule my appointment twice because I was having a hard time finding a gas station to fill up at. Once I arrived they provided quick service, seemed concerned, and were very kind with my pet.

My small dog was attacked by a much larger dog. Thankfully they were open when everywhere else was closed and they saved my dogs life! They let us walk in, treatment was not expensive at all, they were very kind and everyone was very helpful. Planning on taking my other pets there soon for general checkups.
