How to Save Money at Animal Emergency Hospital of North Texas
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Everyone was very helpful and supportive while we were at the facility. I went to this facility because I had concerns about my female who was in labor. The first pup was born in the room and all was well so we went home for the rest to come. I came back the next day with a different concern. The staff once again was wonderful. They gave mom, pups and I a room in front until they were ready for us. Stella and pups were taken in the back to be looked at while I read the helpful Literature Scarlet gave me about mom dogs and puppy care. I was bought to my dog after the exam and they showed me how to care for her and her issue. Dr Quentin Brands was reassuring and encouraging. He had a wonderful personality that put you at ease, with a great sense of humor. Scarlet gave Stella some food and water since it was a while since she ate/drank. Everyone else was good as well but I don’t know their names. All this and then I was told no charge for our second visit since it was within 24 hours of when we initially came in. 😃

I am so thankful for these doctors, vet techs and staff, all of whom demonstrate true compassion. After our 3-yea-old Abby collapsed on a walk, we rushed her to this hospital. The young woman behind the desk rushed to me and carried Abby to the back where the doctors worked to save her life. They surmised (from our description of the walk) that she had been stung or bitten and gone into anaphylactic shock. Her blood pressure was so low they couldn’t draw blood. I didn’t know if she would live but I believed they would do everything in their power to save her. They took care of us, too, in that we were met with authentic kindness and understanding, and kept up to date with her progress. By the time we were able to take Abby home, she acted like she wanted to stay with them. I would like to especially thank Dr Beckham who was so patient and kind that first night when we were distraught, as well as Dr Chapman, who called with regular updates and explained what was happening in ways we could understand. I also want to thank the hospital for allowing us to come up and spend time with Abby, during her time away from us. Finally, those front desk women … they are the first faces you see and we felt nothing but empathy and compassion from them. Our Abby girl is back to her joyful, playful self, and still loves her walks despite her traumatic experience. There just aren’t enough ways to thank you all!

We took our dog to this facility when she recently got bit by a venomous snake. Staff were very friendly and caring. I would expect that there might be a sight wait since you won’t be the only animals at the ER. We felt like the DR explained everything very thoroughly, and made sure all of our questions were answered. The doctor also gave additional information on snake season or advice for the future. They also quoted prices while we talked through recommendations which they elaborated on, and did not feel like they were running any unnecessary tests. I would recommend this facility who anyone who lives nearby in the area and is sealing immediate medical attention. This place saved my baby!! I’m forever grateful.

My heart is broken as I write this, but the wonderful people of this facility gracefully helped us see our precious Tayla~Blue to the rainbow bridge. They walked us through a very difficult journey that started 16 months ago and were there for us in the end with so much compassion and empathy. Thank you to the wonderful staff and doctors who loved us through this painful transition.

I’m so very thankful for the care the emergency team took of my 17 year old turtle, Paris! My turtle had sudden bleeding and I gave them a call right away they said they could see her, she spent the night at their care and next day they were able to get her to the reptile specialists. Everyone I spoke to was very kind and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!
