How to Save Money at Livewell Animal Hospital of Little Elm
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Highly recommend Dr. Tadlock and Dr Thompson! I took my Roxy girl in last week for her first time and received exceptional care. I had to take her back in a week later for a problem visit which turned into emergency surgery. Dr Thompson was very caring and saved my girls life! I am forever grateful for Dr. Thompson and Dr. Tadlock. Staff as well were amazing! Doctors and staff make you feel as you are family!

Had our first visit at Livewell Animal Hospital with Dr Thompson this past week. Very polite and friendly staff and the office is kept very clean. We had worked with Dr Thompson at another clinic and clearly followed him here. Great first impression and would highly recommend them! Dr. Thompson has been very helpful with our pup and so sweet to our fur baby. 100% trust that they are doing everything they can to help.

I highly recommend Dr. Tadlock and his staff. From the moment you walk in the door it is a very calming atmosphere. Dr. Tadlock was the first doctor that actually gave me answers after months of searching and was confident to preform a surgery to give me those answers. While my cat was there for monitoring I recieved contact from the staff(Sarah and Tonya) which helped to relieve my anxiety as I knew she was in the best hands. Even though the answers I received were not what I wanted to hear I gained a month with my sweet girl that I don't know if I would have had otherwise. Additionally they were all willing to answer all my questions and I have a lot and provided support. Moving forward they will be the only vet office I will go to!

My dog Lucy had surgery at this hospital and I could not be more satisfied with overall experience. I called the clinic and the same day I had a quote and we scheduled the surgery for the following week. It was much faster than any other place I was inquiring with. It was also more affordable than any other hospital I asked for estimate. Surgery went well. Post surgery we were seen 3 times and never had a problem scheduling the appointment. I have 3 mature dogs and over period of 10 years I have been visiting many pet hospitals. Livewell Hospital of Little Elm is one of the best experiences I had. I do recommend this hospital and will use in the future.

Dr Tadlock is the best Vet we have found and we have been to several before we found him. He has seen 3 of our 4 pups so far and always provide the best care. He takes the time to explain every issue and possible treatment options. He recently helped us with end of life care for our beloved Schnauzer and could not have been more compassionate and caring as we went through a very hard decision and process. We will not trust our pups with anyone else as long as he is in practice.
