How to Save Money at Eldorado Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
It's places like this that have made me lose faith in Healthcare providers. They clearly operate as a business first and provider second. I went in twice to get my dog looked at for the same issue - a skin growth on his head. Both times they prescribed antibiotics and said they didn't know what it was. I told them the second time that my dog was terrified of the medication and was vomiting and had diarrhea for an entire week, but they were insistent that the medication was the only way. The second time I gave my dog one pill and decided that was enough as he had already started drooling and vomiting. My wife and I realized through our own research that the growth was likely a cyst and we were able to lance it at home. Thankfully it hasn't been back. I called the vet explaining my frustrations and was told that I could bring the medication back for a refund. That was a lie because when I brought it back they said it was against the law to take it. Great, so honor what you said about a refund and throw it away maybe?? They didn't care and apparently "no one put in any notes" on my concerns...classic line. I just wanted to feel heard and not force-fed medicine like all doctors want to do these days. It's a shame because they are close to my house but I won't be back. My recommendation is if you want a vet who will actually communicate and listen to your concerns and honor what they say, then STAY AWAY from this place.

Eldorado Pet Hospital has been caring and loving on my sweet Juju since she was 5 months old. So he is now 3 years old and while there are a number of pet hospitals closer to my home, I always defer to this hospital because from the front office, techs and doctors, this hospital is dedicated to providing excellent service and care for my sweet Juju. Highly recommend

I’ve had nothing but wonderful experiences here, from neutering my pets to putting them down. The staff and doctors here are incredibly helpful, kind, and understanding. They never rush or press you and are extremely helpful when it comes to figuring out what my pets need.

I would give 0 stars if I could. The vet here has no regard for the pets brought in. We have been coming here for some time and we assumed our dogs’ agitation at the vet was similar to when we get nervous at the doctors office. However, after the most recent incident, his behavior makes complete sense. A few days ago Finn, my dog, was continuously licking the bottom of his paw and when we checked, we noticed it was red and irritated. We immediately brought him here, to which they told us that something had poked him and they cleaned the wound and gave us 3 medications to give him. Another day or 2 had passed and we noticed he was bleeding from the top of that paw. Absolutely terrified, we took him to an emergency center. This is where they told us that they apologize but whoever we had taken him to before had barely even looked at the wound, let alone cleaned it, and whatever had poked him had make its way all the way up. There, they properly cleaned and examined the wound and comforted him and treated him kindly. They gave us liquid medication and even checked on him a day later over the phone. That is how pets should be treated. They cannot tell us when they’re in pain or when they need help. To be considered a professional healthcare provider for such important family member is not a joke, and the vet at El Dorado is exactly that, a joke.
