How to Save Money at Atlas Pet Vets
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I happily drive a little over an hour to take my dogs to see Dr. Daniel and Dr. Lauren. It is so very worth it. I have seen my dogs flourish since seeing Atlas Pet Vets. Both of my dogs are fearful of vets, strange dogs, and strangers. I had to pick my older one up to get him in the door of my last vet, even though he had been going there for years. With atlas pet vets he runs right in the door. The way they set up appointments is super helpful. I have never seen another pet or owner while we are there and we go once a week. It’s very quiet. They use calming pheromones and dim lighting, which I also believe helps. They are always so happy to see my dogs, give them treats (only after asking me first) and treat them as if they were their own. Even though my dogs always snub them. My older dog, Jax is 12 years old and has atypical Cushings, a heart condition, arthritis, DDD, possible collapsed trachea and an as of yet unidentified LAD. He sees Dr. Daniel. Dr Daniel is so great at managing all of his meds, symptoms, as well as working with his cardiologist, and internal medicine specialist. Dr. Daniel is so good about explaining everything in a way I can understand. Dr Daniel was able to catch that Jax was on a medication that my last vet needlessly added, that could be dangerous to Jax’s heart condition and get him off of it. He got him on a diet that is actually working and Jax is losing weight almost every week. He added some new medications and started Jax on weekly laser therapy. Jax has improved so much under his care. Jax’s quality of life is so much better, he is able to go for walks again and is in less pain overall. I’ve even been able to reduce his pain meds some, causing him to be less sedated and more like himself. My 5 month old puppy, Olly sees Dr Lauren, most of the time. She has been great, as well. They do a comprehensive check up on him every time he gets his shots. Olly has a pretty bad reaction to vaccines. Dr. Lauren was able to figure out a way to make him more comfortable and lessen the symptoms to the vaccines. She counseled me on the best food to feed him, how much, as well as when to neuter. They were also able to tell that he’s a little bit younger than we originally thought. Olly had an episode of not wanting to eat, they were able to do blood work, find out there was nothing serious going on, and give him medication to ease the symptoms until he recovered. Under their careful supervision he recovered completely. Both vets take your concerns seriously. They are both great about counseling owners on training and behavioral issues as well. They are both so dedicated. You can really tell they love animals and their jobs. All of the techs are so incredibly nice and a joy to be around. You can tell that truly they love animals, as well. They always call to check up on my pups the day after a visit. They are all so nice about putting up with my endless questions. They offer so many things that other vets do not. Like a fear free experience, underwater treadmill therapy, laser therapy, nutritional and behavioral counseling. They also offer in house diagnostics like echocardiograms and blood work results in 15 minutes. My previous vet offered none of these things. Their prices are surprisingly fair, and they are great about letting you know about cost way in advance. I can’t say enough good things about this vet clinic. I will be recommending them to everyone I know. We just love the whole Atlas Pet Vets family! We are so glad we found our forever vet!

My experience with vets in the past hasn’t always been great. My great prynees broke his hip when he was only 8 months old. I had gone to another vet to get his surgery done and oh my was that the worst decision I could have made for him. My local hometown vet is amazing at the basic visits such as nail trims, ear cleaning, and other sorts of basic vet work. Atlas pet vets is that and everything more. Dr. Lauren Anthony and I had a conversation about my dog one morning and you could automatically see the concern. Dr. Lauren Anthony got me in for an appointment the next day, when I arrived I immediately knew. This was going to be his saving grace. Dr. Daniel Anthony before even looking at my dog had a great idea of what types of therapy and rehab we could do to get him walking normal and by the time I left we had a full 3 month rehab plan. Atlas Pet Vets isn’t your normal vet’s office, They have some of the most advanced technology I’ve seen for animals. They have an underwater treadmill, an amazing laser therapy program, and tons of balancing and strengthening exercises and some of the best assistants I’ve ever worked with. Within 2 weeks of therapy I have seen a dramatic difference in my dogs quality of life and movement. If you are looking for a vet that is willing to do anything and everything for your pet. Atlas pet vets is the one for you.

I have taken Bella(mini golden doodle)here 3 times for visits and each time the staff has been so attentive and loving with her. She actually enjoys going to the vet now because of the love she gets there. Dr Laura is fabulous and very knowledgeable. She does an excellent job explaining what is happening and the steps needed to help Bella live her best lift. Truly blessed to have a place to take Bella where you are not rushed out and everyone cares!

After moving to Frisco, we were apprehensive about finding a new vet. We brought our new golden doodle puppy, Harley, to Atlas Pet Vets and we all fell in love with Dr. Daniel and his amazing staff. When adventurous Harley broke her Femur, Dr. Daniel and his staff went above and beyond to support her, and us, through her surgery, healing and recovery. We are so very thankful to have found such an amazing vet. With all the love Harley gets from the staff at Atlas, it is one of her favorite places to go and we will never go anywhere else! We highly recommend Atlas Pet Vets!
