How to Save Money at Woodland Springs Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The team at Woodland Springs Veterinary Hospital really is the best you could ever ask for! The front-desk staff, the techs, and the vets are all friendly and professional. Our cat has been having a rough time, but we know she’s in good hands with Dr. Via, Dr. Chen, and everyone else we’ve had the pleasure of meeting. They really do go above and beyond. Our girl is feeling much better, and we couldn’t be more grateful!

Myself and Kelian have been visiting Woodland springs for almost 6yrs now! The Dr’s and staff have been/are amazing, the communication is flawless and the visits are always painless. I recently moved to Arkansas but have continued to use Woodland Springs as my primary veterinary hospital due to the reasons listed above. I can’t say enough kind words to express the gratitude Kelian and myself have for this place. Communication, consistency, and transparency are lacking within a lot of businesses these days but Woodland Spring is not one of them. Again, thank you!

I’ve had two Pomeranians treated at this location by Dr. Chen. Both times the issues with my furry babies always felt back to themselves and the condition always correctly diagnosed and treated. Shout out to the front office staff for always being friendly and I know that can be hard at times. Helping with foods and setting appointments, all while being genuinely nice and a great team. The back office is amazing and they listen to your concerns and are very upfront about costs. They really do treat your furry baby with love and care. Dr. Chen has been truly amazing. I can see her love for all pets even when they’re dirty and their breath is disgusting. She truly loves what she does and cares. All my years seeing different veterinarians and I must say she is the BEST of the best. She offers her recommendations and is understanding about funding expensive vet care without judgement. She is non-judgmental and really wants to educate you on how to better care for your pet. No other veterinarian has ever really educated me on pet care like her. I must say the office visit fee is a little more than most vet clinics (only very small negative, I had to find something). Both times I took my dogs in it was around $300 each time, but it was worth it. Dr. Chen correctly diagnosed my little sick old Pomeranian with diabetes which is heartbreaking. She did a urinalysis and full blood work up and found the issue so no unnecessary tests. She called me personally, emailed all her recommendations and all my furry girls labs for me to review myself. She will now require insulin for the rest of her life, but had she not found this my furry baby would have died very soon as her blood sugar was so high. I give 5 stars. They care. They love. They’re reasonably priced. Easy to set appointment quickly. All around great experiences. Thank you!

Hannah, Kaylee, Dr. Johnson and all the other ladies that helped us today were all amazing. Dr Johnson was very thorough in the comprehensive exam for my new puppy and made the visit very smooth. I love that she did lots of education and made sure I was prepared as an owner as well. I’m sure my new pup will not be scared to go to the vet ever after experiencing their sweet and compassionate care.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I can't say enough good things about Woodland Springs Veterinary Hospital. I've been coming here for 3 years. Dr. Ken Slough and his team are absolutely incredible! I've truly never experienced such thorough and attentive vet care. Regardless of whomever you interact with, they all have one goal in mind, making sure your pet gets the best possible care. Dr. Ken Slough is knowledgeable, kind, professional and clearly passionate about his work. He took the time to follow up individually to check on my English Bully after surgery and make sure she's doing okay. Stacy is amazing, she treats my dogs like family! I've already referred friends and family to this clinic and will continue to do so going forward. Woodland Springs Veterinary Hospital is a shining example of what all vet clinics and hospitals should strive to be! Thank YOU for everything you do for Diega 🐷 and Parker 🐕!
