How to Save Money at Deason Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

such AN AWESOME TEAM! Brought our Frenchie for her c-section and glad we did❤️ They take all measures to make sure momma is ready. Almost made a mistake in allowing another vet hospital to perform a c-section and at the last minute called this great place to see if we can find out if she was ready.. drove 3 hours to come here but glad we did. We find out she was not ready. Her levels were too high. Could have had premature pups. Days passed and on a Weekend our momma showing signs of labor. Thank God they have a after hour emergency number and they performed the surgery on a Sunday afternoon. We had 3 Healthy Frenchies and Momma did AMAZING. Thank you so much for taking very good care of our babies.. 🙏❤️

My dog ate a needle. I went to an animal hospital by my house and they were going to charge me over $4000.00 to remove it. Not only was Deason Animal hospital far more reasonable, but they did a phenomenal job and my baby girl is doing great. They were very caring, gentle and professional. I drove an hour one way just to take her here and would do it all over again with no hesitation. I highly recommend Deason Animal hospital

My horse was hit by a car and had a big injury to his leg. The staff was amazing and got us immediately in to see the Vet. They were extremely sympathetic to my pets needs. Dr. Miller did an outstanding job on stitching my horse. No nonsense medical care at a fair price. I literally trusted them with my family and they did outstanding. Highly recommend.

This place is amazing!! I have taken my sick cat here as a walk-in apt since they didn't have any appointments. I had to wait a little bit, but they were able to see my fur baby. They were able to get him back on his paws and regain his zoomies. So professional and amazing service with decent prices!!

Big Shout out to Deason Animal Hospital and long overdue testimonial. Right before Thanksgiving 2022 they saved my German Shepherd who suffered a very severe case of pyometra by allowing me to bring her in at 8:45pm and performing emergency surgery on her right away. The following days post surgery which looked not very promising, I was kept informed on her recovery process daily and was able to visit my dog every day whenever I wanted and for as long as I wanted. After being able to take her home, I was able to consult the veterinarians whenever I had questions and concerns and their answers were always very compassionate and informative. Last night , Fourth of July weekend (!!!), I noticed that another dog of mine suffered a medical emergency (bloating). I was able to connect with the on call vet quickly to get my dog seen and as soon as I brought him in, they were able to perform emergency surgery on him and save his life. Next day (weekend) I was able to get updates on his recovery process and was able to take my dog home due to his stable condition. Again I was met with lots of professionalism and compassion regarding any questions and concerns I had. I can highly recommend Deason Animal Hospital as a dog owner and working dog handler. They are an outstanding animal hospital!
