How to Save Money at MedVet Dallas
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Everyone we interacted with was amazing. They helped with making the most difficult decision a pet parent will ever have to make. Explained things in detail so I would truly understand what my pet was going through. I would highly recommend this location. Thank you for everything you did for my boy Milo.

Well staffed in all areas, from ICU to specialists. Best to have notes taken by in-take staff to ensure accuracy down the line. Most everyone we came into contact with showed great empathy and care. If we are ever in the situation of needing emergency Veterinary services, we will be returning.

We unexpectedly arrived at MedVet after our Golden Retriever declined rapidly while visiting a veterinary eye specialist. The specialist was very wise to alert us of the severity of his state and advised we head to MedVet immediately. They called MedVet ahead of time while we were en route and we were met immediately by the staff after walking in the door and our sweet boy was rushed into care. We soon learned that his condition was for the worse and made the difficult decision to say goodbye. The staff allowed me to see him in the triage area before we were relocated to a calm, quiet room while he was kept stable so my husband could arrive from work. All of the doctors and staff were so compassionate, kind, patient, and went above and beyond to ensure we had all the time we needed to say goodbye to our dear Leo. This loss was even harder as we had lost our sweet Rottweiler just 6 months prior. As we were exiting the building, we noticed that the statue outside was of a Rottweiler, and it couldn't have been a more comforting sign that we had come to the right place. Thank you MedVet for making this difficult experience a little easier on us. We appreciate you all!

My sweet Layla was diagnosed with lymphoma, 2 weeks before we were due to move out of state. Medvet was compassionate from the very beginning when I called to setup an appointment. Whoever I spoke with offered condolences and was so kind to me. They got her in quickly, they took great care to listen to all of her details and info, and they were clear and upfront from the beginning about the pricing and what to expect. When we arrived, I was sitting with my pup off to the side trying to calm her nerves. Someone on the staff approached us, chatted with me, and sat with Layla petting her and being very empathetic. It turns out she was the in-house social worker and she made me feel so much better from the onset. We had an entire hour allotted to our consultation and they could take her day of to treat her if it was needed/we chose to. The “nurse” was equally kind and thorough. She clarified some of the details on Layla’s file and really put me at ease. Dr McQuown was knowledgeable and direct, laying out all of our options and their efficacy. Her clear expertise also helped put me at ease. I received a detailed breakdown of the payment and was allowed time to make a decision. We opted for essentially a biopsy. We should receive results sometime next week, and since we are relocating, we cannot continue care with Medvet, but I sure wish we could. They cared for my girl so well and were so kind and sweet to her. This dog mama feels a lot better too after working with such a professional facility. Thank you so much, Medvet!!! Extra thank you to Lorena and the nice lady who was the social worker for being so patient with my girl.
