How to Save Money at The Oaks Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Simply put: Everything about The Oaks is incredible. Between our four dogs, we’ve seen three different vets here and do each have our favorites, but we’ve never been disappointed. The medical care is exceptional; the team is so competent and compassionate, and the prices are affordable. Vet med practitioners deserve to be appropriately compensated for their knowledge, education, and expertise as healthcare professionals, and this isn’t a low cost clinic, but however Dr. Hees has struck the balance, it’s working! We feel very blessed to be clients of this business and can’t refer it enough. Supporting a small business in the vet med world is tough, but that’s a priority for us, and we are beyond thankful that a practice of this caliber is available to us.

Great vet. My dog’s been going to The Oaks Dog Ranch since she was a puppy, and now that the vet has purchased the Ranch, she can get her check-ups and shots while at the boarder. The staff is caring and punctual—love this place!

One of my dog is very shy and the last time I brought her to a vet, it was a bad experience, lets just say the tech and veterinarian had trouble handling her. Which, shouldn't have been an issue if they were dog professionals! She was just very shy at first but she is ok with you as long as you give her time. The Oaks Veterinary Clinic was so good with her. She was shy but the tech didn't hesitate on making her feel comfortable. It's like he knew she just needed some time to warm up. When the veterinarian came in, she was very professional and handle everything very well. She was very concerning and you can tell she cares about the animals health and well being. My dog had an ear infection that I didn't even notice, and she didn't even hesitate to get labs done on it. She sent her home with medication and wanted me to bring her back for a follow up. My past vets at other clinics never asked me to come back for a follow up for ear infections. This was a clear sign to me that they care about the animals and want to make sure they are being treated correctly. The staff were all very nice and professional, I didn't feel like I was being ignored or rushed out the door so they can take on the next customer/patient. I also email the clinic and they are very quick to respond. Also, when responding, Trinity explained the situation clearly, provided all the information needed to ensure I wouldn't have anymore questions and was very professional. Even the little things like that tells me a lot about a clinic. I feel comfortable now knowing that Momo and Lexi are in better hands!

We recently moved to cypress, and had to leave our long time vet. We have 12 dogs and 12 cats, and continue to foster and rescue when we can. We were looking for a full service veterinarian that would listen, and understand the needs of our extended family. When you have as many dogs and cats, it is sometimes very difficult to manage time and cost of care. They have been great in accommodating us and making us feel very comfortable. We highly recommend them to anyone.

Dr. Hees, Skye, Jessica and Brittany are all fabulous! Love the furry babies, take their time with them, talk to them and calm them. They don't try to talk you into unnecessary tests, imaging or meds AT ALL. Best Veterinary Clinic I've had in 30+ years of pet ownership. Took rescue foster pup Nico in for In the In Name of ZOEY pet advocate and adoption facilitator for intake initial vet appt, registered my two babies Buddy and Sophia before I left... it's THAT good! The "campus" is like 5 acres (I'm not good at guesstimating land area but it seems huge to me). And it's peaceful even with being right on Mueshke. Lots of trees, lots of things in general. The Oaks Dog Ranch with doggie daycare and obedience training. A shop onsite for puppy training supplies. Dog play park to for pups on leash. All the things in one beautiful spot. IMHO you'll struggle to find a better location, setting and staff! 😁
