How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Unfortunately after almost 15 years with Banfield this Corpus location is the worst place I have been. I have been in that clinic 4 times since moving here from zlarpund the Tyler area. One time was an over night tooth surgery after our dog broke off one of her canine teeth in the back. Never even got to meet the veterinarian then. The next two appts I made then went in after they sent me back conformation for them date and time. Once I had to donanother date because they said I had no appointment at all they confirmed it by text. Then in Febuary I made our baby her 6 m9nth check up once again on the pet plan she has been on now for 9 years. Made the appointment they confirmed. Went in and they had no appointment scheduled for her our dog. So they said you can just leave her and when she is dine ypu can pick her up. I reluctantly left her. After 7 hours I called. She was done and they never called me. Then last week I made her 6 m9nth check up again for August 26th. They sent me a conformation to answer to for her appointment on the 29th. No I made ot for the 26th. I haveva heart Doctor appointment on the 39th about the same time. That's why I made it for the 26th. So I called. They said they were sorry but the computer must have automatically generated another appointment. So I told them it has yo be the 26th. OK they responded for the 26th and sent a confirmation text. We went took our dog. They refused yp see pur dog because her appointment wasn't on the 26th it was the 29th. So we left. I no longer will do buisness with this clinic afain. It's sad but I'm wondering now if my dog even got her shots or they just gave me paper work and still charged the monthly pet fees. I still after ine year nevervgot to talk yo or see a veterinarian ever. Good luck.

I had high hopes and gave the opportunity but unfortunately they lived up to the negative reviews. I had scheduled a new patient wellness exam online through the scheduler for one month out which was the first weekend available. I saw some reviews indicating that they aren't accepting new patients so I called to ask. They told me they WERE accepting new patients and that an appointment was available for the upcoming weekend so I rescheduled it. They sent two confirmation messages and I promptly responded. However, I received a call the day before the appointment to tell me that they were sorry but they weren't accepting new patients and were cancelling the appointment. I understand that they are likely trying to look out for their current clients which I can respect but they shouldn't waste people's time. I recommend that they remove the ability to create an appointment online for new patients if they aren't accepting them and notify their staff so they don't schedule prospective clients just to later cancel them. I'm glad that I saw these reviews and had a backup plan just in case they fell through so I thought I would return the favor and leave a review to notify others that they still aren't accepting new patients and keep it current.

Best experience I’ve had with a Banfield hospital. I’ve moved around a lot so I have experience hospitals in San Antonio, a couple in Austin and Corpus. They were super helpful when it came to setting up my dog’s appointment and when we had to reschedule the appointment.

Wonderful staff. Cute notes when pets have been good. Get report cards! Inside pet smart! Kept charging my bank account after I called in and cancelled the cat's automatic payments! Never got my money back either!

I made an appointment weeks ago for my ailing dog. The day before my dog's appointment, they cancelled saying they aren't accepting new patients. They couldn't tell me that when I made the appointment so that I could make an appointment with someone else. They don't care about your pets or a little consideration or empathy, but none.
