How to Save Money at Animal Hospital and Emergency Clinic of Conroe
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google

!!!WARNING!!! Please by the grace of God read before considering bringing your pet here. I’m attaching 3 photos. One of my dog before he came in, one right after the procedure, and a couple days after. It’s really sad to say that this vet office is still up and running. I should’ve read the reviews before coming here. My dog had gotten attack by another dog. Pretty intense trauma to his head and eye. He needed it to be cleaned out, stitches inserted, and a wound drain. I knew this type of procedure would be expensive, but they quoted me $4000 dollars for it all to be taken care of. I trusted them with my pup I care very much for. We ended up paying around $3,700. About TWO days later his entire face is swollen and his wound is draining an awful smell. He needed to be examined and I called them to tell them what was going on…the first person I talked to kept telling me that my dog didn’t get his procedure done here and told me I needed to go where it was done. It took me 3 times of telling her that it was done here for her to actually look it up and check. Then the 2nd time I called I asked to speak to the doctor and they asked me why. I politely told them I wanted to talk to him to just hear everything out of what went on and the instructions to care for my pup afterwards. She told me I should’ve received an email with discharge instructions. Mind you my dog had the procedure done on 10/29 and it is now 10/31. I told her I didn’t receive any email. She then proceeded to send me the email and as she was hanging up I was trying to ask her if I could speak to the doc but before I finished she had already hung up the phone. I was very emotionally frustrated and running off little to no sleep. I just felt like I was being shrugged off when my dog needed serious attention for something they did wrong. I went up there to speak with the manager and express what had happened to me and how upset I was for spending thousands of dollars on my pup. In sum they were nice but all they said was I have to pay the $104 for the recheck up (even after I paid thousands of dollars for them to fix him). I walked out in tears and they still weren’t even willing to give me a discount. So I called multiple other clinics and the only one that was available to take my pup and look at him for a reasonable price was VETERINARY HOSPITAL OF NEW WAVERLY (THEY'RE AMAZING)! They told me they had basically sewed up the traumatic wound on my dogs head that had an abscess and it began to push itself into the surrounding tissue. So they quoted me everything that needed to be done. They had to basically go back in do everything over again see what was done wrong by this clinic and appropriately care for it all while being a max of $650!! That’s it. That’s how it should be. My advice is to go somewhere that cares and is not just about the money. As for this clinic when you read this. I pray you understand what it feels like to be on the other end of it. What if something like this happened to you and your pup? I know you wouldn’t be able to bear it. I just pray you all are able to turn it around for the better and put your patients before thousands of dollars. Or better yet if you’re going to charge that much at least do it thoroughly and make sure you did everything right.

Took my cat here because he was super sick, they said nothing was wrong with him then brought out a bill that said either pay 600 or 1500 and my eyes popped out of my skull. They did thankfully bring the bill down for what I could pay that time, after I started crying. I brought him in again weeks later after he got sick again, waiting for a day to see if he would spontaneously get better again. They quoted me 5k just to hospitalize him overnight and catheterize him as well as administer medication. Again they brought it down to what I could afford, however that treatment wasn't anything that helped him at all. They did acknowledge that it wasn't going to help, however I feel like they could have explained the situation better instead of being condescending because I'm poor. Each time I went here I paid a crazy amount just for them to not help at all, and I am grossly poor but they should have just been like "Hey you should just go to another vet" instead they greedily took what they could from me and now I'm in a bind. They also didn't put his records in the system right for my vet to find later because they knew he was worse leaving there than he was going in. All this was after I waited 4 hours for him. At least yall attempted to look like you tried. I took him to Stone Ridge and it was like night and day. They showed such compassion to my baby and worked out a payment plan for me to get him SURGERY to fix his constant flair ups. The entire thing cost 3k, and that was after two nights of hospitalization as well. Basically to make a long story short this place is a business first and foremost, which is their right, but it feels so gross and shallow when it's life or death about a family member like this.

MOST CARING and BEST CLINIC! Late at night on Christmas Eve my cat came to the back door screaming in pain. He had a large cut on his side and was bleeding badly. I rushed him to the Conroe Animal Hospital between Best Buy and Target. The staff took him back immediately and no doubt saved him from bleeding out. The poor guy was so scared but the staff was so caring and comforting. Of course the worst incidents happen during the holidays, but the Animal Hospital of Conroe saved the day! THANK YOU!

I came to this place today to see what they charge for an initial first time visit and was told by the receptionist that the vets charge over 150.00$ just for a physical "exam". Than the vet would recommend what to do next which would no doubt involve over priced treatments to inflate the bill. I know vet visits are costly sometimes, I spent over 500.00 alone in September for medication and some tests at another vet. There were a few people in the receptionist area who were either too ignorant or stupid to realize that they were being scammed. If I am going to pay over a 150.00$ to a vet just for a physical exam it's not going to be to some greedy jackass whose "hospital " is in a plaza next to a Best Buy. When are people going to realize that some of these "Vets" take advantage of peoples love for their pets and that in moments of distress are willing to pay almost anything for their welfare.

These people were absolutely amazing. I highly recommend them. Earlier tonight, around 10:30 pm, I went to let my dog out. He ran out midway through the backyard then started screaming. I was unsure why. After getting him, I seen that his side was sliced open. Still unsure how at this very moment. I quickly drove over to the Animal Hospital of Conroe next to Target on 105. They checked him out, then brought me a price. I instantly started having a panic attack. I couldn’t afford that. The amazing tech, Ann, asked me what I had. I told her. She told me to allow her to speak to the doctor. They worked something out, changed some things around and got it where I could afford it. I have never been so thankful. After getting home and inspecting, I’m thinking a large bird tried making him their dinner but due to his weight or brothers it didn’t work out. Anyways, this place was amazing. They helped me through the process. Financially, and emotionally. Ann, I know I didn’t really say it, but I’ll never forget what you have done for me. You are truly a gem. Thank you so much. UPDATE: 2 weeks later, we went in as a walk-in to have his stitches removed. They were very nice and quick! Once again, very pleasant experience. Added photo below to show off his “tummy tuck” scar.
