How to Save Money at VCA Premier Animal Hospital and Pet Resort
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.
How Do You Choose the Right Pet Insurance Provider?

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Took our newly adopted dog for her 1st complimentary visit with Dr. Moody.. He was pleasant enough and knowledgeable to answer all my questions. Our dog was adopted with several skin, eyes and ear problems. The former vet that we were seeing stopped responding to our messages and questions, leaving us with so many unanswered concerns. The VCA staff was so helpful and helped us make the right treatment decisions for our sweet girl! Thanks VCA and staff for making us feel welcome and that our questions were valid! Shy-Lo says thanks! 😊

I was a very satisfied customer for many years, both for my regular and foster dogs. All told I spent upwards of 15k and did not regret a penny of it. I even continued going after moving to the Lago area and passing several other vets during my drive in. Although I could count on a 10-20 minute wait beyond my appointment time, it wasn’t an issue due to the exceptional care my pets received. However all of this changed in an instant last year. I had a Saturday morning appointment and due to traffic was running approximately 6 minutes late. I did not think this would be an issue, because as I mentioned, over the course of my 10+ years as a customer NOT ONCE was I seen on time. I could not have been more wrong. As I was waiting at the intersection to turn in, my phone rang approximately 5 minutes past my appointment time. The person on the other end informed me that since I was late they were canceling my appointment and putting me on the walk in list. I let them know I was less than 60 seconds away. Didn’t matter, go on the wait list or reschedule. At this point, quite frankly I was fuming and hung up to gather my thoughts. After doing so I decided I would at least swing by to get the Heart Guard I had ordered when I booked the appointment. When I called to let them know, the girl on the line informed me that since I did not have an appointment they wouldn’t give me the medicine. Thinking there was a misunderstanding, I replied I wasn’t coming in to have my dog seen, I just needed to pick and pay for the package that was already sitting on the counter with my name on it. Turns out there was no misunderstanding, since I did not have an appointment I wasn’t getting the pills. Needless to say at that point I was 100% not going back, but it was the follow up call that really prompted this review. The next week I get a call from one of their reps “to get my side of the story”. Both the call and the implication behind her words just rubbed me the wrong way (pun intended). But I did let her know what happened, which resulted in a litany of excuses that I’m guessing will be regurgitated in response to this post.

We have boarded our corgi here several times for anywhere between 2 and 12 nights and they take such great care of him. We receive daily text updates on how he's doing as well as adorable photos of him playing. We also book the suite that comes with a 24/7 camera so we can check on him no matter where we are. The last time he visited he had a health issue and we were 15 timezones away. VCA communicated with us immediately and in detail, and administered treatment until he recovered. The hardest part of traveling is leaving him behind, but I fully trust the VCA Pet Resort and can't imagine boarding him elsewhere.

Had an appointment for Hope to see Dr Moody who never saw him. They came in and asked for a large amount of money I disagree then they left me in a room for 50 minutes I got mad then a doctor manzono came in and calmed me down she was very good. Her and her assistant. I gave it two stars because Dr Moody and his assistant never came back in never apologized. And now I'm here with my dog Junior who has a problem with his leg. They didn't take me into a ring or introduce me to the doctor The doctor came out and visited us He was very nice He didn't give me his name but like him and he worked with her budget. I would give it five but then it would take away from my last visit where Dr Moody didn't even come in and they kept me waiting 50 minutes with an appointment and the technician never came back in and new technician and Dr manzoni came in and they were great The doctor today was also great just didn't get his name it's Dr. Rabbon and I saw him again today he is great bumped it up to 5 stars between Dr. Rabbon and Dr. Manzono. Do NOT RECOMMEND DR. MOODY

We recently had our Schnauzer pass away who had been terminally ill for months . We reached out to VCA on a Saturday morning and they immediately set up an appointment for us that day. When we arrived, they showed empathy towards our situation and we were taken to a separate room to discuss our dog’s health. The staff and Veterinarian explained the process very well and provided a comforting environment for us to say our last goodbyes to our dog Cheeto. When we received his ashes less than two weeks later, he was given back to us in a very respectful way. We loved the wooden box, name plate, and ceramic paw print. Thank you to the entire VCA staff and Veterinarian for such a good experience during a very difficult time in our lives.
