How to Save Money at Burleson Animal Emergency Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
We have taken every single one of our 5 dogs to the Burleson Animal ER over the course of the last 4 years. From things as small as an allergic reaction, to as large as our oldest baby needing to be in oxygen therapy for over a week. We have had NOTHING but good experiences with them. Have we had long waits at times? yes. Have the costs been higher than our regular vets? yes. But we understand that emergency care warrants both of those things. And truly, the times we had to wait, I was grateful that our pet wasn’t so sick to warrant immediate need. We have found caring and compassionate staff from the front desk, to technicians, to doctors. While we hope to never have to bring our animals to emergency care, we feel very fortunate to have had the experience that we have.

Everyone has been nice over the years. They have had to help some of my fur babys cross the bridge, help with my german shepherd with his hip pain. And just these past couple weeks I had to take my 5 month old kitten in and she had to have an eye removed they did great with her and she loved the girls 🙂. I will continue to use them!

I took my dog in she spent the night they sent her home and she died I my arms the next day I’ll never use them again. It cost us 3,000 to bring our baby home to die. When I called to tell the girl her exact words were “what do you want me to do about i” Not a “ohI ’m sorry” nothing. Not even a call from the Dr. saying “oh my gosh we are so sorry” Nothing Just “what do youwant me to do about it . How about not send my dog home before she’s ready I’m forever traumatized!!! I got more compassion from Farmers Dog! Than these people.. They are rude and the first thing they make sure of is they get that money up front. I’ve never gone to a vet that wants money before they even treat the dog. And then don’t seven send a itemized account of where that money was spent .

We recently went to the hospital to see if euthanasia was the best choice for my senior baby dog, and after determining it was the staff was extremely kind and patient and let us decide when we were ready to move forward with everything. We were in the room with our baby for nearly an hour And never once did we feel pressured or worried since we knew that the Doctor that was helping us was a kind person and walked us through every step. The doctor assisting us, a woman with long brown hair and a man upfront with glasses, were so kind and even gave us a paw print and some fur to remember him by. It was the most difficult decision Our family had to make, but the staff made it as kind as possible and we are eternally grateful

We brought our cat in late last night and we knew she was in the worse condition possible but still needed to hear it for ourselves. Well Tangerine was too critical to save so we had to do what had to be done. The staff was stellar! We were able to say our good byes and were treated with so much comfort and empathy. It was so much going on that I didn’t get the names of the beautiful souls that attended to us during this time but we appreciate you so much. Thank you🙏🏾
