How to Save Money at City Limits Vet Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I cannot speak highly enough of City Limits Vet Clinic. From the moment my dog Nooni and I walk through the door, we feel comfortable, safe, and well-cared for. Dr. Faggioni, Dr. Horsley, and the entire team are incredible. They are always ready to answer my questions and provide the necessary help, ensuring that Nooni gets the best care possible. Not to mention, the staff are incredibly friendly and funny, which always makes our visits enjoyable. Their exceptional service and the warm atmosphere they create make it clear that they genuinely care about the well-being of the pets they serve.

My sweet girl and I recently made the move to Austin from Corpus Christi, and were in search of a new vet for her. With new vet searching, comes the anxiety on my end of whether or not she will be receiving great care - and City Limits Vet Clinic didn't let me down! Dr. Faggioni and his staff treated her with such great patience and love, explained everything they were doing so I understood, gave me advice, and listened to and treated all of my concerns. I am so happy with the entire staff and environment, and my Chloe girl is too!

We love City limits Vet Clinic. Bella is well taken care by all the Vets here. We have seen all the Vets and they are equally as great. They are very knowledgeable, thorough, very accommodating to answer all of our questions to help us understand our pet’s health better being new paw parents, and make recommendations for us too. The receptionist and technicians are very prompt and polite too. Our favorite technician is Shane as he is always so passionate with his job, very detail in explaining how to administer the medication and provide us with the materials. Bella was spayed and the next day, they will call, follow up and check how is she. We are so thankful to have them to care for Bella. Keep it up guys, y’all are doing awesome!

We have been going to see Dr. Lynn Graf for our cats for about 1 year now for our 3 cats. From the first phone call, we were highly impressed with the friendly and attentiveness of the reception folks. When we came in for various appointments such as annuals, sick visits, and vet tech visits we were impressed with the professionalism and bedside manner of all of the staff. We previously went to Cat Hospital of Austin for several visits and were not impressed. The vet wanted us to do dental surgeries on our pets that were deemed unnecessary by Dr. Graf and seemed unnecessary in general, as the vets they had before we moved to Texas said they were all perfectly healthy (and we take our animals in regularly and are not afraid to come in for extra visits if we think they are sick). Additionally, the reception staff at Cat Hospital of Austin were also not the friendliest and hot helpful at all... I am so thankful we have found a good clinic that cares about the animals more than anything else. God bless these people. Those who care for animals and do everything they can for them deserve the world. We are recommending this clinic to everyone and will be back again soon. Exceptional and incredibly compassionate service and very reasonable prices, especially compared to other clinics in Austin!

We’ve finally found a team that knows our crazy pups. Right when I call with any concern they know their patients and care. Safe to say that our scariest was with Mr. Whiskey ( heart worm+) they were patient with side effects from the medication he plus more. My heart is ready for his soon to be check up to be told he's ready to be himself again. And of course his sister is excited.
