How to Save Money at Burnet Road Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Went there two separate times when I adopted a couple of puppies from Heavy’s HEART pet rescue where they were getting their initial vaccinations and checkups. The business was extremely clean and the staff was beyond friendly. They were pleasant and went way above anything I’ve ever experienced in Ohio. The doctor was very thorough and gentle with every touch on these puppies. I’m not from Texas but if I was, I know where to take my babies. You all were very friendly and treated me and everyone that came in with the utmost respect. Thank you for everything you’ve done for my babies, Poppy and Cooper. They are doing well here in Ohio and I thank you for making sure they were good to go. Thank you also for caring as much as you do. You set the par and standard as what every vet should be. 🥰

I needed to find a new vet for my anxious pup. For context, it took my dog over a year of seeing the same 3 people every Saturday and Sunday for her to allow one of them to touch her. This girl has a major case of stranger danger and Dr. Amy won her over within a few minutes. The staff is always helpful. They treat you like a neighbor, not a number. I bought the wrong heartworm medicine and they gladly exchanged it for the correct one. They even walked me through ordering it online. I took a picture of the receptionist that day and attached it here. LOL!

It's been almost two years since my animal passed and I was unsure if I ever wanted to leave a review. I took my cat here while she was having abnormal behavior. The older doctor that saw her was aggressively handling her and was joking around ; even though I explained my concerns. As we were leaving, the receptionist was even making jokes and commenting on how unique my last name is. This staff cannot read the room and be professional. He did not do proper tests and told me to give her medicine. I asked if that is a good idea and informed him she is really sensitive to medication. Later that night , she was unable to move and was breathing very heavy. I had to wait until the morning and rushed her to a different animal hospital in the morning. It was the worst week of my life. After tests, they noticed she had an enlarged heart and would soon have heart failure. I made the decision to put her down instead of let her suffer. Burnet Animal Hospital could have done the proper tests to avoid my pet from suffering due to the wrong medicine given to her. I don't recommend this place. I hope these people read this and learn to be professional when dealing with customers.

I trust my pet with BRAH. They take the time to explain any health condition in detail and have prescribed the correct medications to help with any health condition my cat has had. They honestly seem to care about your pet and you can tell both Dr. Toth and his daughter Dr. Amy Toth know what they are doing and are in fields they love. I appreciate everything they have done for Leo my cat, and will continue taking him to them as long as I remain in Austin.

Dr. Amy is wonderful with my dog who's a very anxious patient. Dr. Amy's father, Dr. Rusty Toth, was my other dog's vet for many years. I credit his excellent, thoughtful care to her long life of 16 years. Highly recommend Burnet Road Animal Hospital; excellent vets who truly care about animals.
