How to Save Money at ASAP Vet: Veterinary Urgent Care

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This clinic really saved our day. Our dog was sick and we were struggling to find a place to take him on a Sunday evening. From the phone call to make an appointment to the techs (Cleo and Emily) to the doctor everyone was so kind and welcoming. They really went above and beyond 10/10 customer service. Felt the staff was cost conscious. Adorable facility and compassionate care! Would highly recommend

I brought my dog Bean in for a broken nail, and the ladies at ASAP VET were so sweet and attended to her immediately. Given the nature of the break, she had to be sedated to remove the nail. Dr. Chassie explained the procedure up front and talked me through the exact issue and treatment plan. They did an incredible job with pain management before, during, and after the procedure— which was my biggest concern. I got clear communication and updates during the procedure, and it made me feel comforted to know she is in good hands. They even called to follow up 24 hours after the procedure to check in and make sure she was recovering well! The cost estimate was very reasonable for urgent care on a holiday weekend! Five stars!!

I am amazed how professional and just loving this place is! They helped me out in my panic mode, helped my dog and in emergency didn’t even charge us as we had to go to other clinic due to the dog’s injury. I thank you dearly for your help and understanding! You wow’ed me!

I wouldn’t bring my fur babies anywhere else! I brought my kittens Soup and Doodle into ASAP Vet because they had fleas and worms. When I walked in, I immediately fell in love with the clinic! The design of the clinic is light and pretty (doesn’t even feel like a urgent care) and the girls at the front are so welcoming and kind they made me feel really comfortable even though I was nervous for my babies!! Courtney, the technician who helped me, was so sweet and very explanatory about what treatments needed to be performed and why. Dr. Spencer and the rest of the clinic all treated my babies as if they were there own and showed that they really care. I had a wonderful experience and will definitely be coming back to ASAP Vet if there’s ever an issue again! Thank you guys for your love and help!

We walked into ASAP for an emergency visit because my usual vet was extremely busy with already an hour long wait. When we got there we were greeted and set up almost immediately. There was plenty of seating space and they handle nervous pets very well by putting us in a private room after a few minutes so my dog can settle into her environment. We went over pricing and payment plans before treatment so we knew exactly what to expect and how to pay. They offer 2 different options for monthly payment plans that are basically free to use. We selected a plan that gave us 6 months to pay off the cost before extra charges occur. That is more than enough time for us to figure out our finances. My nervous pup warmed up to the whole team with the help of some cheese. They all have cheese! And when we were called to come back and get our “Loyal Lady” (that’s what they called her🥹), we saw she had made lifelong friends. After hearing my pup was okay and just most likely pulled a muscle, they taught me what kind of changes to look out for. I got a chance to notice the cleanliness, super cute decor, and spacious rooms. When we walked outside, my dog saw we were heading back to the car (she’s not a fan of the car) and she turned herself right around and actually walked back to the vets front door! Never in a million years did I think my dog would PICK to go into the vets office. It was at that moment I knew I’d be bringing her back to ASAP vet for all her future visits. Thank you so much to your entire team for your thorough work and calming demeanor! I know both me and my dog appreciate the entire experience. My partner and I will be singing your praises to all who will listen! And don’t worry, all 60 pounds of her sedated self sat drooling in my lap the whole ride home lol. Now, we’ve been giving her the prescribed medication and she’s doing wonderful all because of ASAP!
