How to Save Money at WesVet Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Harpers story is below but I have Dr.Dobbs to thank for EVERYTHING he has done for us - truly the one of the best medical professionals I’ve ever met, I’m so thankful he’s our vet! My Miracle Girl - On September 29, Harper’s health declined severely, and she was given just a few days to live. The week was filled with numerous vet visits, a spleen removal surgery, and a blood transfusion, all uncertain whether they would help her survive. Harper means the world to me; she’s been in my life since college, and the thought of losing her broke my heart. I’m so happy to share that since last Friday, Harper has been trending upward daily, she’s shocked us all with her strength throughout her treatments. It’s truly a miracle that she’s still here. I’m incredibly thankful for all the veterinarians involved in her case, especially Dr. Dobbs (@wesvetanimalhospital). Continued prayers are needed that she continues to fight this sickness and lives out an amazing life for many years to come! 🩷🩷🩷

I can’t say enough amazing things about WesVet. I was not a former client, but as my dog was experiencing a medical emergency, this office happened to be close by and I called to see if they could take him. I was met with kindness and compassion by every employee I interacted with. I wish I had gotten everyone’s name, but they were all patient and understanding even though I was an emotional mess. They took great care of my Rossi and got him stabilized to be transferred to another hospital. Dr. Wes kept me updated on how my baby was doing throughout the visit and has since texted multiple times to check in on my little guy. I’ll be bringing my dogs to this office moving forward and recommending them, and specifically Dr. Wes, to everyone I know. Thank you all so much! Please make sure the whole staff knows how grateful I am!

I only have great things to say about this animal hospital. Dr. Wes is an amazing veterinarian and cares tremendously about his patients and their owners. All my questions and concerns are always answered and my dog is in great hands. I have also had great experiences with all the vet technicians. Every one is professional and kind.

I've been taking my little one to Dr. Wes and Dr. Dobbs since moving to the area up until his very last breath. Both are very knowledgeable in their field. They and every staff member are very attentive, and I've never felt rushed through any appointment. I appreciate their open communication and transparency. When it was time to make the difficult decision to let my dog go, Dr. Wes and staff showed much compassion. If I ever adopt another pup, I would definitely return to this office.

I drive all the way from East Nashville because WesVet is the absolute best care in the Nashville area. My cat Gremlin was acting strange and WesVet got me in right away and turns out he had a 106 temperature and needed emergency care. Dr. Dobbs took care of him all day and then helped me get him transferred for overnight care. Dr. Dobbs called to check in on him several times and I felt very supported during a VERY stressful time. Two days later, my other cat Goblin started showing the same symptoms. WesVet, again, got me in super quickly on a Saturday when they were already very busy and Dr. Wes took Goblin back to get him fluids and antibiotics. Because of their quick response and willingness to work me in - Goblin was able to recover much quicker and I avoided needing to take him to an unfamiliar clinic. It is also worth noting that every tech and staff member is incredibly kind. It is already very stressful when your animal is sick but its even more stressful when you are unsure how much the bill will be. WesVet always compiles an estimate BEFORE any action and carefully goes over each item so you understand what you're paying for and have the option to opt out if needed. I will recommend WesVet to any pet owner and appreciate Dr. Dobbs and Dr. Wes so so much for being such wonderful veterinarians and kind people.
