How to Save Money at Grassmere Animal Hospital PC

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The best vets and staff (and very affordable)! I have been bringing my animals here for years and I wouldn't want to go anywhere else. I trust them completely and I'm so grateful for their expertise and compassion. Special shout-out to Dr Piper who has been my primary vet for all of my dogs. She is so calm, thorough, and kind and I can't say enough good things about her.

I used to live in Nashville and started using Grassmere and loved them. Then I moved an hour and a half away and tried a few vets and none compared, so I went back to Grassmere, and the drive was well worth it knowing they loved my pets. I've since moved out of TN and while moving tried a few vets. I am very fortunate to have finally found another place I love, but after going to so many, it makes Grassmere stand out so much more. I was writing a review for the one I finally found that I love and it made me think of Grassmere. It's been a couple of years since I've been there, so maybe a few people aren't there any more and maybe a few more are there that I haven't met, but to all of you at Grassmere, thank you from the bottom of my heart for caring for my animals. They have all meant the world to me, and I feel like they did you as well, you treated me and more importantly, my pets as if they were your own. It seems as time goes on, GREAT service is harder and harder to find, which makes you stand out so much more, so again, a Sincere Thank you for all that you do!

I’ve been using GAH for roughly 22 years over 2 dogs life’s and have never had a bad experience. In fact, nearly every experience has been pleasant. The team at reception and desk area have always been super sweet to by fur babies and myself as well. Ive had amazing service from both Dr Brumbelow with my first dog after moving to Nashville, and currently Dr Clark. High praise’s for both. I had a dire occasion where Dr Clark squeezed me in during his lunch after getting little help from an emergency vet hospital that misdiagnosed the situation. I value how Dr Clark explains in great detail everything in and around what’s happening and showing relevant pictures. Some may even consider over-informing but my brain is very analytical and inquisitive so I love all the info I can get! I’ve recommended them to more than a handful of other pet parents through the years but finally decided to write review. I know all fur parents are different and have different levels of where their pet fits within the family hierarchy, and I can tell you my dogs are my family just as much, if not more in many cases than my actual human family and I implicitly trust GAH with them and appreciate all staff previous and present that have cared and comforted them through more than 2 decades of service! Thank you GAH team!🫶🏼

Love Dr. Clark and the staff. Always courteous and friendly. My little guy has been going there for years. He has had teeth and weight problems recently, and Grassmere has been incredible with my little buddy. Just went through surgery for a second time, and Dr. Clark gave me all the information in a comprehensive and gentle way. (I always learn something from him) I could go on, however I will just say I am grateful to you all.

Grassmere has taken care of all our pets needs and we really do appreciate the care that is given. Our Pinky had a litter of pups and we went in for a check-up.
