How to Save Money at City Pets Animal Care
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

This was by far the worst experience I've ever had unfortunately I had to have my 13 year old bulldog euthanized I had a appointment at another clinic but it wasn't for 2 more days. I called City Pet's to see if it could be done that day they said to bring him in & they will be able to do it that day. I asked the vet technician on the phone the price & even though it was more than the clinic we were going to go to it couldn't wait so we brought him in. They definitely didn't seem to compassionate about the situation & another employee came in to inform us of the cost which was double what we were told over the phone. So we asked to speak with the doctor and she had said that's the price she's not going to honor what one of her employees quoted us. We tried to reason with her and she said that's the price & we could take our dog elsewhere. We were willing to pay the price we were quoted & she said she didn't have time for this take your dog and leave. We picked up our dying dog & left not having a clue what to do so while driving home we decided to stop at another clinic which was closing to see if they could help every employee that was there jumped in to help put our dog to rest. We were so devastated at how a licensed vet could treat a dying animal. We then imitatedly took him to a pet crematory & made arrangements for him to be cremated. We finally thought this horrible day was going to be over but we couldn't be more wrong. Upon arriving home we were greeted by a officer from Animal Control with a complaint of us having a very unhealthy elderly dog I couldn't believe that City Pet's was accusing us of neglect. The animal control officer was very interested in hearing the truth so much so he called out his supervisor after we gave him all the supporting documents he then said he would be filing a false report if that was something I wanted to do. I said absolutely I was contacted the next day letting me know City Pet's was cited with a fine. PLEASE read there reviews here and Yelp the could care less about the well-being of your pet just how much money they can get from you in a very difficult time. Special thanks to the animal clinic who helped us & Animal Control for taking the time to get to the truth of a situation & actually take action for someone abusing her power. In memory of Winston

Staff are amazing. Our pets get treated like their pets. City Pets are the only vet that offer a Pet health saving plan (PHSP, which is a great way to help when you have a senior cat as we do who needs extra care and is to old for insurance. The PHSP gives free checkups, which we love.

Amazing all around. Incredible vets who genuinely care about the well being of your fur family, friendly and caring staff, great vibes. Pricing is fair and definitely worth it for their expertise. They take care of my three fur pups, and I trust them with all aspects of their care. Definitely check them out if you’re in or around the Nashville area 💯

I’ve known Dr. Evans for many years (even before she was a Dr!) and I have been bringing my 4 year old pup here for almost her entire life and have never once been disappointed! Her staff has been nothing but kind and have taken care of my baby so well. I would trust Dr. Evans and her staff without any hesitation and know that she is professional and believes in taking care of animals because they deserve love and attention, not because they bring in a paycheck. Juno loves her vet!

I moved to Nashville July 2018 and took my beagle Porter to see the team at City Pets. Daniel was amazing and made sure that Porter was taken care of. Dr. Evans has such an amazing bedside manner and disposition - you can tell how much she loves all her patients. I also took my exes dog, Dori, in for a visit and they took great care of her too. Lastly, I adopted a chihuahua mix in October and just took her in last week to get her up to date on all of her vaccines and heart worm and flea and tick treatments. Lacy was a wiggle monster but overall I think she did good. I told Lacy those mean ladies were going to get it hahaha. While I was there, I found out that they are now offering a dog dna service so decided to do it on Lacy. Can't wait for the results! Also, Savannah is always so sweet and remembers Porter by name. I just met Alyssa but she's been a big help so far. Thank you all for taking such great care of my fur babies!!!
