How to Save Money at BluePearl Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I had the absolute BEST experience at this location. I had just (literally two hours before) adopted a pup named Rusty and found that he had worms. I called to see if they accepted care credit and walk-ins. The receptionist was so sweet and reassuring when I told her that he was new to me, and I didn't know how he would behave. When i arrived the check in process was quick and easy. I did not wait even 5 minutes before getting called back. The assistants and veterinatians were absolutely amazing. They got down on his level to make him more comfortable, and I believe because of their kindness is the reason he behaved so well. They were really wonderful. I had been a vet tech before and I know how hard it is to go above and beyond in such a stressful work environment, but their auras were calm and sweet. The cost was very affordable especially since I was a first time patient and walk-in. I would recommend them to everyone. We were in and out in probably a half an hour, and they did not compromise quality of care to expedite the visit. 10/10 great experience. THANK YOU team! All the best Rusty and Michele

I discovered BluePearl in an unfortunate situation. My dog, Tucker, went down and was not able to get himself back up. I was sent to BluePearl because my normal vet didn’t have time to make an emergency call for my dog. Knowing he had underlying conditions, I knew this trip was going to probably end up badly. The entire staff from the person that answered the phone to the vets and tech we dealt with were so kind. They jumped into action the moment we arrived, bringing out a cart to help him in (he’s almost 100lbs) and immediately getting him back to see the vet. Unfortunately the news was not good, but the vet came in and explained everything to us, gave us the time we needed, and ultimately helped my buddy not be in pain anymore. Thank you for your willingness to help, your expertise and your empathy.

Wow, what an improvement from the former emergency practice here! I expected to be told it was $500 for walking thru the door and then get very minimal service, followed by a final bill of an arm and a leg. Instead, the staff were all welcoming and friendly. My boy is a rescue with some, um, quirks? The staff went out of their way to make sure he had the minimum stress. We were in and out in less than an hour and a half for a third of my expected cost with my boy’s problem resolved. It was a very pleasant surprise and I recommend Blue Pearl highly.

As a dog owner of an older dog who has kidney issues I’m no stranger to emergency vets. Me and my girl have been to several over the years due to her having chronic health issues. This one is closer to home and our vet is closed so we give this one a try. The stuff we’re very nice and the place was clean. Very upfront about the consult cost. Once they take your pet into the back and do “vitals” they come back drop them off and a vet comes in later. She advised my girl could have a few things going on and wanted to sedate her for x-rays. She’s not a biter and was very still due to not feeling well. So I found this odd. They brought out an “estimate” high and low cost. The high was over $1k and the low was around $600. We decided to wait 7 hours until our regular vet opened as her vitals were stable. It just seemed very odd and money grabbing on the entire experience.” Let us give your dog with limited kidney function some meds for an X-ray and we can charge 600$ for it.” They gave me a few minutes alone with the estimate then came in and I advised I was uncomfortable doing all that on her without her normal vets ok. They didn’t pressure me but they made sure to take that estimate away briskly almost like they did not want you to keep a copy…..I guess so their price gouging couldn’t be exposed. I know emergency care is costly but this place is outrageous bordering on insane. The only plus is how kind the staff were and the vet. I just hope they don’t cause someone to put a pet down due to the fact they can’t afford care there in a pinch. If your reading this go to another clinic if money is an issue like NVS. More bang for your buck and I felt like they were there more to save animals vs making money off them. I don’t mean this on part of the staff as I know they don’t set the prices and have to do what they are told. The vet herself and the techs were very kind, even the receptionist was wonderful.

I recently had a sick baby and had to go to BluePearl pet hospital. Unfortunately I had to put my baby down. The staff was incredible!! Everyone single staff member was compassionate and so nice to myself and my kids. At one of the hardest times they managed to do everything they could to try and help us. I will always go to BluePearl for my babies when its after hours. Thanks again for everything ya'll did for my family and Keeter.
