How to Save Money at Animal Medical Center
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

WARNING I took my 13 year old dog to this emergency vet one year ago. I haven't been able to write about my experience due to trying to overcome the pain. My dog had gotten into chocolate, they assured me he was fine, but they wanted to keep him overnight for observation. They called around 3 am and said I needed to come right away. They told me when they went to take him outside to potty he was walking correctly. He passed about 10 minutes after my arrival. I believe negligence is what killed my dog. I don't believe they were monitoring his vitals or he wouldn't have become so critical so quickly. I've never been so devastated. They told me he seemed fine until removing him from his crate. Something could have been done sooner, they were not observing him. The man and woman smelled like cigarettes, I can only imagine they were living it up, smoking outside, not tending to peoples precious loved ones. I can not think of that night without breaking. Being assured he was okay and would pull through to then be called at 3 am is unfathomable. His stomach had flipped at some point in the night and it was missed. Ironically he had his well visit earlier that same day and his vet said he was in perfect health and had at least three more years to live. If you can drive out of Murfreesboro to a different 24 hour clinic I would recommend it. I do know some of my statements are speculation when it comes to the smoking, I'm just not sure how you miss his stomach filling up with gas and flipping until you take him to the bathroom.. isn't that the reason he stayed overnight.. in case of an emergency like that? I will always love my first baby. I hope the two working that night never work with anything alive ever again.

We took our 7 year old yellow lab, Harley, in for an emergency visit Sunday morning. He was in pain and having trouble walking and holding his head up. We called beforehand and Danielle was very helpful and informative of what to expect during our visit. The vet tech, Sabien, was the best! He made Harley feel as comfortable as possible when we arrived and was very patient and knowledgeable throughout our visit. The Veterinarian, Dr. Justin Johnson, was very thorough with his exam. He took the time to explain the options of testing and answered questions about the recommended treatment. We were very impressed with our experience and would highly recommend Animal Medical Center. The team was amazing and provided exceptional care.

I brought my 6 week puppy, Peanut, here in critical condition as a result of aspirating milk which caused a sudden onset, serious respiratory infection. Since he's a toy breed he's very small, only weighs 1 pound, so he got very sick very fast. The staff were all very kind and caring towards me and my baby. He spent the night in the hospital as the staff gave him a lot of special care, including IV antibiotics, breathing treatments, etc. I called the hospital several times that evening and throughout the night and the next day. Each time I called, I received updates and, despite his being in critical condition, they were totally honest with me and very caring. When I arrived at the hospital the next day, Peanut was miraculously alert, responsive to me, wriggling around - basically back to normal! It was definitely a miracle, I believe, granted in answer to many prayers from myself and my friends! When the staff observed Peanut's responsiveness with me, they agreed that he would recover much better with me, so they discharged him. I left with detailed records including lab reports, care instructions, and the medications. They gave me everything I could possibly need to care for Peanut at home. I know they saved my baby's life! Somehow, through the power of prayers and the care and treatments from the staff, Peanut made a quick and amazing recovery! BTW, Peanut has been home for 2 days now and he's doing extremely well. A very special Thank You to all of the staff at Animal Medical Center!

A stray dog got ahold of my cat at 3AM on a Sunday. Went here, and they took her immediately. Excellent super fast response and service when it counts the most. Sonya will be just fine.
