How to Save Money at Magnolia Animal Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I can not thank your wonderful staff enough. You guys went above and beyond helping me get my dog seen and get her the lifesavong emergency treatment she needed. The staff worked just as hard as we did trying to get resources dealing with such a time sensitive matter as if my baby were their own. Thanks to your wonderful staff here ,my baby lived to see another wonderful day and will have many wonderful days ahead ❤

We had a vet Athens animal hospital in athens but wanted to find something closer in an emergency. We have had several with 3 dogs since. They always get us in quick. EVERYONE is so nice. Prices are very reasonable. Refills are quick. The vet there explains everything until you understand. I would not take Mama Mia, Sansa and Stark anywhere else.

I've been taking my fur baby, Petey, to Magnolia Animal Clinic for the past 7 years, and I can't say enough good things about them. From the moment we arrive, we are greeted by an incredible staff who truly cares about the well-being of my pet. One thing that sets this clinic apart is the doctor's approach to prescribing medications and tests. They never over-prescribe or suggest unnecessary testing, which gives me peace of mind knowing that Petey is receiving the care he truly needs. The staff is always patient and takes the time to thoroughly explain the treatments and medications, making sure I understand everything. Another aspect that I appreciate is the clinic's pricing. They offer the best prices in town without compromising on the quality of care. It's reassuring to know that I'm getting excellent veterinary services at an affordable cost. And let me tell you about Kevin, the veterinarian assistant. He is hands down the happiest person I've ever met! Every time we visit, Petey gets so excited to see him. Kevin's positive energy and genuine love for animals create a welcoming and comfortable environment for both pets and their owners. Overall, my experience at Magnolia Animal Clinic has been exceptional. The incredible staff, the doctor's responsible approach, thorough explanations, affordable prices, and the joy Kevin brings to every visit make it the perfect place for Petey's care. I highly recommend this clinic to any pet owner looking for top-notch veterinary services.

Beware: I believe this place has changed ownership. Been going here for years now there is only one tech and a surgeon who comes in on Tuesdays, or so I'm told . NO VET....at a veterinarian clinic. Haven't seen her in 31/2 years. The broken down tech has to handle all the check-ins and diagnose your pet.Again NO VET. What is the sense of charging a lower office price if you have to keep going back because of a wrong diagnoses by someone unqualified.Other places are not more expensive than here, check it out and see. A shame,my wife loved the lady that did the nail clipping, but she left to.Only workers left are the rude desk people and a tech that can't see straight because he's over worked and under paid. These people are so burnt-out and take it out on the customer and their pets. They no longer care. Great way to wreck a business....unless that is the plan. Can you say write off?? Strange they have pitbulls or mixed pits on front web page when I was told that pitbulls should all be destroyed. Unbelievable but true. Again, I believe this can't be the same owners. If it's the same then they should consider another line of work that doesn't involve people or pets.
