How to Save Money at Knoxville Pet Emergency Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Went in on a Monday morning after my 9 month old pittie broke his doe nail. They took him right back and took great care of him! They were quick professional and very kind! I hope to never go back but if I have another emergency I'll be heading here! They made a nervous mom very happy ❤️

I originally called this place in a panic as my dog was squealing in pain (unusual for my baby) and they recommended a different place because it was closer to where I'm located (newport) be cause of the severity of the situation to try and help. The other place... 5 oaks in Morristown.. awful! The lady hung up on me when I told her I didn't have $900 for a consultation. Completely unprofessional!! So I called this place back, and they heard my baby crying in the background and knowing I couldn't afford to pay for everything right away. They told me to bring him in straight away. ❤️ they were SO empathetic and kind and truly there for the babies... not the money... there, they know pets are family. 🐾❤️ by the time I got there, my baby's stomach had expanded many times it's usual size (his stomach flipped...💔) and because he was so old, 13.. and had other issues.. it was possible he wouldn't make it through surgery and I didn't want to put my baby through that. They got him ready while he gave a bit of strength to muster a few kisses to them as they did, to bring him to me to do what no pet parent ever wants to do... 😥. They put me in a room so I could say one last goodbye to my babyboy. They didn't rush me either and gave me my space and time to come to terms with what was about to happen... they walked me through the process and prepared me as I sang goodbye to my boy as he took his last breath and wasn't suffering anymore. After it was done.. they let me stay in that room with him and didn't ask me to leave... they let me stay as long as I wanted because I had trouble letting my boy go. And they were so very kind, understanding and supportive as I grieved my baby boy. Once I got ready to leave they knew I couldn't afford to pay for all I needed to pay for.. but instead of turning me away like the other place did before, i could step a foot in the door... they worked with me the best they could to make sure my baby was taken care of, and kept safe and sent off for cremation. They even put him in a beautiful wooden box with a beautiful certificate with such heartfelt words inscribed which I didn't know they did. 😥🐾❤️ and were so apologetic and sympathetic of my loss... like genuinely... not just words.. they felt my pain. ❤️ this place... deserves an A+ for their services and the way they handled things.. for such a tragic event for me... they made me feel like my boy was taken care of properly and respectfully every step of the way. I'm so glad I found this place and came here. Their staff is top notch, and they all deserve a raise for their excellent approach to all situations. They will forever deserve my gratitude for how they treated me and my baby boy. I could never repay the kindness they gave to me from the first phone call at 1130 at night in a panic, to the moment I picked up his ashes. 🐾❤️

the emergency pet clinic has been amazing! their caring and compassionate outlook along with treating our fur babies like family is why i will always, in emergent situations, have my pets treated there! my GSD, Maverick, can be very intimidating, but the staff showed no fear, only caring and helping hands to treat his ailment.
