How to Save Money at Boones Creek Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
This vet office is absolute trash compared to Mountain Empire Animal Hospital. We brought our two cats just today and the vet technician was super awkward and unfriendly. The vet was not very thorough in examining our cats (and I would really like them to be especially if they're going to charge 55 dollars for each cat!) despite our concerns over our senior cat. They did testing which we did not even ask for (usually at Mountain Empire they ask before doing so as not everyone can afford to spend 400 dollars out of pocket for things they didn't even express interest in doing). Maybe I wouldn't have a problem when Mountain Empire said they'd charge essentially a 100 dollars less for senior blood work. 230 dollars for senior blood work??? Are you serious? This place looks all dolled up and stuff probably cause they scam people to make an extra buck. My mistake for trying to get a second opinion after my poor cat died of a heart attack. They weren't even sympathetic and understanding when we mentioned that! Seriously, people, go to Mountain Empire they charge better rates and they care more over there. I bet if my cat died and Boones Creek Animal Hospital was my primary vet they wouldn't even do half of the things they do over there. And I bet they would've charged a couple hundred more! Poor customer service, poor rates, and just general lack of care for animals. I don't even know why they have such high ratings either. I guess all the rich people just go here and don't care how their money is spent? I will not be coming back here for our shots for our cats and check ups and such. I hope the black and red headed vet technician learns better customer service skills and the vet herself will definitely learn to be more thorough. We even brought paper work in and she said "oh" to our senior cat having arthritis. Just goes to show she didn't even do research on our senior cat before seeing him. That's bare minimum. Please listen people! Rich or not, Mountain Empire has better customer service and rates!!!

If I could give ZERO stars I would! I brought our dog in to be seen and they did absolutely nothing to help him. First, the tech told me she was taking him to the back to get his weight and temperature checked. I agreed and then proceeded to wait for about 20 minutes wondering why it would take so long for just a weight and temp check. The tech and the vet walk back in and apparently had already examined and done tests on our dog without consulting with us first. There was NO COMMUNICATION. They then proceed to tell me that there is nothing that they can do to help and that they cannot drain the swelling in my dog's face and apparently diagnosed him with cancer. I was completely blindsided with the care received. From the time we called to the end of our visit the office staff, techs, and vet were pushy about getting us out the door as soon as possible. We just wanted our dog to have some relief and to get taken care of and get back to the happy, healthy dog that he once was. I would NEVER recommend this vet clinic to anyone!!

First time taking a pet to this vet. Our previous vet retired. My 10 month old gsd was not happy to be taken out of the room by a stranger. Instead of stressing her out, they came back and had me help get her on the scale. Because she was stressed the vet spent 45 minutes just talking to her and giving her tiny treats so earn her trust. When the time came for an ear swab & shots(after 45 minutes of trust building) they were amazing. Yes it's pricey, but no more than any other vet in the area. The time they took to let our pup feel comfortable was above and beyond what was expected. We will be using them for all the future care of our pets.

This vet has went above and beyond for my fur family. I can't say enough good things about the staff and how compassionate they are. I love the set up, cats on one side, dogs on the other. They treat you like family ❤️

This isn’t a place that cares about your fur babies unless you have all the money upfront for a life saving procedure/visit. They have no payment plans for people that actually don’t have almost $500 to be seen. I lost my baby bc they wouldn’t see him without the money. Time didn’t warrant care credit or scratch pay. Sad.
