How to Save Money at All Tails Vet

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

i can not say enough amazing things about these people. Dr Jones is the best vet in the tri cities area!!!! what a special gift to animals that she is a DVM!!!! when i very first found out about All Tails i took my two dogs there and they gave me a bogo free deal if you will on their annual vet visit fee. they care more about the animals than money unlike most vets!! their vet visit fee is the cheapest ive ever found too!!! my dog recently had to have emergency surgery (may she rest in peace) but when i took her there they took her straight back for her emergency situation and xrayed her. upon finding out she needed this surgery or she would have to be put down they did not charge me anything for seeing her that day as they told me they wanted me to focus on her getting her life saving surgery. they took great care of her while she was there and while i was figuring everything out they brought my dog back to the room to be with me they so gently carried her back into the room and brought her a bed so she’d be more comfortable and even brought her spray cheese!!!! they couldn’t do the surgery themselves (to no fault of their own) but after my dog had her surgery somewhere else they offered to do a check up visit with her for free which i was not able to make it to that day and unfortunately my sweet girl passed 2 days later. they were so compassionate with my girl and handled her with such care when she was so ill. i am so grateful for the wonderful staff at this facility and am so thankful our community has a vet that truly puts the animals first in every situation!!!! i will continue bringing my other dog here forever!!! we love you all tails!!!! also what a wonderful thing it is that they only charge you a vet exam fee once per year that’s so helpful for pet owners!!! again this review is just one example of how amazing they are, but i have had nothing but great experiences with them every single time ive taken my dogs to see them!!!! i even got my girlfriend to choose all tails as the vet for her dog too going forward!!!

I cannot say enough great things about these people. I’ve used these guys for about 4 years now and never had a bad experience. They always treat our pets with so much love, kindness and with all the patients in the world. They will work with your budget, and they work tirelessly to make sure your pet is taken care of in a timely manner. They answer every question without judgement, and are always there when we have an emergency! A huge thank you to the wonderful staff at All tails!!

Phenomenal Clinic with the most loving Staff! All Tails Vet saw my 9yr old orange tabby named Chairman meow 07/26/24. I was turned away from every other resource and rescue; but all tails was there for me! They worked with my budget, and even informed me their 58 dollar exam fee will cover future exams for the next 365 days as well! (This is per animal) Much better price option for families who can’t afford 80+ dollar vet examination fees offered by the other clinics in town. They diagnosed my kitty with Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex. In the 9 years I’ve had him; they were able to diagnose him in one day when other vets had no clue what it might be or what to even test for; and I was told by previous clinics it would cost an exponential amount just to find out. They assessed him immediately and treated him in a timely manner! I wasn’t used to being in and out so fast of a vet; typically having to wait hours at emergency visits or walk ins elsewhere. The staff there were friendly, informative, and welcoming. They gave us our medications for him and explained them well. I highly recommend this clinic. This is the clinic that cares! I would rate them higher if I could!

All Tails is the best veterinarian practice I have been to in my years of having fur babies. The staff is friendly and helpful and every vet there is top notch. The only place my critters will go. Aside from typical care they have also spayed/neutered 4 out of 7 of my fur babies I currently have and their surgery center is awesome. Highly recommend ❤️

Friendly, knowledgeable, and caring staff. Tiffany took great care of my dog during a situation that was stressful on her, and all the staff there were awesome. The cost was affordable, especially for a person like me who is on a set income. Thank you, All Tails, for the great care and know that you will be our vet going forward 😊 💜🐾😊
