How to Save Money at Fairview Animal Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Compassionate, caring, knowledgeable and accepts my dog has attitude and laughs and will interact with her! My Boston terrier who is a couple years old high anxiety! Shakes like she is having a seizure and is so vocal/scared when it comes to other people and dogs. The last vet deemed her “aggressive/will bite” which lead to if we come back we have to muzzle her. My dog is NOT aggressive she is just scared. They took me and her back to a room instantly so she didn’t have to be around other animals (she will sound like a dying whale until she can meet/sniff other animals 😂) they were so caring and compassionate and NEVER muzzled her and even said she isn’t a bite risk/aggressive. As long as she sees her owner(and of course yummy treats) she didn’t even whimper! I wish I had a picture for how we all were for her to retrieve blood. BUT the best experience ever. From start to finish everyone was so nice and calm and did whatever it took to make her relaxed obviously my dog needs anxiety meds and so she took care of that. Our last one wouldn’t think about medication and nothing is calming her down. NOTHING. This office without a doubt in mind is making sure she is healthy and safe and not feeling crazy all the time!

We moved here about a year and a half years ago and were spoiled where we lived before because our daughter is a vet tech and we took our animals to the vet she worked for. We did quite a bit of research when looking for a new vet clinic to take our pets. We recently added a puppy to our family so we have had several puppy visits and have interacted with several staff members at the clinic. Every time we are there we, as well as our animals are greeted with a happy helpful staff. Our questions are answered and time is spent explaining all treatments, shots etc. We never feel like we are just another dollar earned. We look forward to visits (fingers crossed only well check ups) in the future.

They really the best!! I had a 13 year old Chihuahua, with cancer that I sadly had to let cross over the rainbow bridge. I called and was able to bring him in that day through the side and straight into a room. They gave Brody some treats and cheese making him the happiest little old man. They told us step by step why they were doing and made sure it was okay before hand. They did not rush us. they let me and my mom love on our baby before, during and after with absolute no rush and the most compassion. It was truly a beautiful experience for such a heart breaking moment. Thank y’all again so much!! And not to mention the beautiful prints ❤️😭

Fairview Animal Clinic has always treated my dog and I so well! The staff are incredibly kind and knowledgeable. I brought my poor pup in last week after he had gotten bit at daycare. Thankfully it wasn't too serious, but I was worried it would be so much worse. Instead of immediately going to the most expensive option, the vet/vet techs assessed his condition and gave us some meds to help fight an infection. My dog is fully recovered, and is back to his old self. Every time I've called Fairview Animal Clinic, they've been able to see us pretty quickly, and get what we need. Their prices are great too- Trigger and I couldn't be happier!
