How to Save Money at Sango Veterinary Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr Hoskins, vet techs Ashlee and Lisa this Sunday also front safe were all amazing. I greatly appreciate the time you took with first Aurora and then Odin later in the day. I didn’t expect to spend most of my Sunday at sango vet but y’all made my day with the amazing vet care!!! Thank you so much!!!

Sango vet was great! I called around to several places between here and Nashville looking for someone who could neuter bunnies. Got a lot of no’s, and a few well… maybes. Which only made me nervous. I’m so glad I found sango vet. The price was great. And they took really good care of my Mr. Miyagi. The minute the tech came out and saw him she was all over him saying she loved him. It’s nice to have someone take care of your pet the way you would. He may be a $25 rabbit, but that rabbit is my whole world 😂 After they did his procedure they called me and gave me an update which I really appreciated, I was worried all morning about him, and they watched him a bit longer because he was an exotic animal. Everything went great, and he’s back to being himself!

Brought our new puppy, Mello (12 week old Great Pyrenees) for her check up and shots. Dr. Fuentes was wonderful and the techs were amazing too, everyone was kind and personable. They make you feel comfortable and were great with Mello too!

Tried to make an appointment for a wellness check of 5 minutes in order to not lose my seventy two hours health warranty on my new kitty , I’m trying to set up that appointment of 5 minutes one month early but she said they have nothing until 7 September , it is frustrating because I understand that they can’t accommodate me but the front desk lady was borderline rude and not at all helpful , quick to ask the 50 $ deposit for the appointment but not all friendly about the inconvenience . I would I have love “ I’m sorry , we have been so busy that we can’t get you an appointment for another month , but you are welcome after you get somebody else for that wellness check to still come to us for his care “nope so Eastview will be ! the kitty needs vaccinations this year and a neutering , it is a Persian so frequent appointments will be happening ! Not good business if you ask me!

I called because I was referred here for a vet for my chickens. When I called I asked if they saw chickens, the woman responded that they only have one vet that does it and that they weren't there right now. I asked them if I could leave my number and have the vet that does chickens call me back, (I wanted to ask if this issue was something that needed to be seen by a vet or if it was basically natural selection), and the woman that I talked to was immediately extremely rude, treated me like I was stupid and was asking for a free vet appointment (was not), and wouldn't let me leave my number for a callback. Of course, totally in her rights to refuse that I suppose, but I just don't see what the point of being rude was. I was very polite. This is my first time having chickens and I was hoping to get a reliable, permanent vet for them, but it looks like googling the answers and hoping for the best is going to be more fruitful than talking to their front desk.
