How to Save Money at Wolftever Pet Wellness Group | East Hamilton

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I really appreciate the time and attention they give to the dogs and pups I bring in. The staff is great. Always friendly and accommodating even with special requests. This office is run very well! I am more impressed with each visit.

I was quite impressed with the amount of time the Vet spent with us during our visit. She took the time to answer all my questions and even provided additional information to me regarding Gabi's rear dew claws. I appreciated that. Everyone we encountered seemed to genuinely love their jobs and it definitely showed. I'm so happy we chose them for our new puppy's care.

All I can say is to anyone reading this if you want a vet for your fur babies and non fur babies! You are in the right place I was to one that would actually completely care throw there heart into it not just a job care about my babies like I do as if they were there own and treat them as such! Yes close to my house and no I do not work there and neither does any my family just wanted you to understand if your trying to decide to hear my story but besides all that know that if you want that then you need to stay on this page and call just call you won't regret it just trust me even if you don't know me! I have 3 dogs now and two bunnies my oldest dog Sheena didn't know if she would be ok or not if I would lose her what I got to see from this vet with my own eyes was how much she cared and how hard it was to tell me and how it broke her as well to tell me my dog had Sard's and was permanently blind she shared in that connection with me at that moment she wad thete not just as vet she cared deeply! She does love animals deeply she feels and feels all the emotion with you she made me not feel alone she jumped into action to do anything she could to help her even when she had such a severe infection not knowing if she would be ok or if we would lose her! Then there's my new dog SoJo so sick when brought her in recently not knowing if would find more just how bad shape she was in if was worse than I even knew if she would be okif trying something else from what had been tried before from before we adopted her would work or if she was just to sick even thou my vet doesn't know with SoJo this is what i thought and felt she will now she was on it looked over her she listened to me she always does thou and even examined her paper work away from me because they told me she was before she even came in she knew exactly again like Sheena what to put her how to help them both just seems from listening to me yes I know she went to school all that but more than she really yrs knows her stuff but she is gifted a complete natural she knows what she's doing greatly and cares and loves what she does and why shes does it!!! I get to actually call in morning and report what an amazing 360 turn around yet again SoJo has made made I think in conclusion and the fact I have made this long enough that yes you can stop looking because she cares!! There is no one I trust my babies with more and won't my heart cannot begin to thank her enough my family is whole and complete so thank you when she reads this for herself 💜🌹

I really recommend Wolftever East Hamilton location. Everyone was caring and attentive. I loved that they took the time and asked all the questions needed to really find out our baby girls symptoms and health history. They’re one of the few that see exotics with the best reviews, as we have a bunny. So happy I found y’all. Love your compassion, patience and honesty. Definitely recommend.

I love this place, they are always so sweet to my pets. 1 Chihuahua and 3 cats...lol. You don't have to wait forever in the waiting room or in the pet room. They answer all my questions and I never feel rushed in and out. Also, I feel their pricing is better than fair compared to other vets.
