How to Save Money at Animal Emergency & Specialty Center of Chattanooga
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Dr. Miller and the oncology team here are simply wonderful. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is searching for treatment options and a care team for their pet. I don't normally write reviews, but I know first hand how hard it is to have your pet receive a cancer diagnosis and not know where to start. My Welsh Corgi, Sully, was diagnosed with lymphoma. Dr. Miller walked me through all the treatment options, time frames and cost. I chose to do the CHOP protocol after extensive research of my own. The staff were always a pleasure to work with. Adjustable with drop off and pick ups and always treated my boy with love and kindness. Dr. Miller was very upfront and honest with prognosis which was looking good for him since I had caught his enlarged lymph nodes early. After his first treatment, Sully went into remission. He returned to his happy playful self and had wonderful quality of life. A little over a year after his diagnosis, his lymphoma returned which I researched is quite common. Dr. Miller again reviewed treatment options. We tried CHOP again however the lymphoma did not respond, so we switched to another drug. Unfortunately we were never able to fully get his lymphoma to go back into remission and 3 weeks after it returned, his spleen gave out and I had to make the devastating choice to put my boy down so he wouldn't suffer. Dr. Miller told me early on we would keep fighting as long as he did and we did. I can't thank her and the team enough for giving me another year with my beloved Sully. ❤️ -Niko

I went in to this clinic with my 8 year old dog gator who had been shot by a neighbor, the vet staff could see I was I terrified and so was gator, they treated me like family the doctor who treated him was absolutely amazing! She was so gentle with him and very reassuring to me that he would be ok. His leg needed to be amputated and she took care of him as if he were her own 💜 he's still recovering but the love and support they have shown me has really blown me away and i will forever be grateful. Hopefully we don't have any more emergencys like this again but if I ever do this is the only place I will bring my pets... Thank you guys again for everything you do!

I have an elderly French Bulldog, and I knew our move to New York (15 hour drive) was going to be problematic. Within 3 hours on the road, my sweet Fromage was having a full blown panic attack. She was hyperventilating so badly she couldn’t catch her breath at all. I was terrified I was going to lose her. I searched for an emergency vet on our route and found this place. I called and immediately was treated like my baby girl mattered. We showed up and they were ready for us and got my baby on oxygen immediately. We were back on the road in an hour and a half. She was calm and sedated enough to finish our trip. Thank you for saving my girl and helping her get to our new home. This is an emergency vet, so you’re going to pay more, but I went from worrying my dog was going to die to being able to finish our trip. Thank you! Photos from after treatment. She was very sedated and finally able to relax and breathe.

Sadly, we had to bring our kitty in to be euthanized. Everyone here was so compassionate. The staff went above and beyond with a wonderful card filled with paw prints of our cat. The company that they use for cremation is amazing and they did a wonderful job with the clay paw print and gave us a beautiful urn.

Staff was caring, efficient and professional. Before arriving for the visit, a link was sent so some paperwork could be completed through a portal, which prepared the clinic for the problem ahead of time. Both technician and vets handled my dog with gentle skill. I was given a treatment estimate, which was explained. I felt the price was very fair. My dog's surgery was completed successfully and she recovered well. I've dealt with several emergency clinics over the years and this will be my choice if I have another sick pet in the future.
