How to Save Money at Care Small Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I have taken my furry kids to Care Small Animal Hospital for years, all the years I've had them, because they are the best in treatment, diagnosis, and compassionate care I have ever seen. They are the ABSOLUTE BEST 💯

The vet and his staff are knowledgeable and provide proper care, but it’s at more than double the rate than any other vet in town charges. Every time I’m there I’m getting extra services shoved down my throat, which I always decline as I personally don’t find them necessary. Today I was charged nearly three time as much for a service than the going rate in town. I verified the procedures from clinic to clinic were comparable, but Dr. Rieb still offered no reason for the exorbitant costs other than telling me “I’m sorry you didn’t ask for an estimate.” We have two dogs and are lifelong dog owners who will not be bringing our business back for these or any future pets.

The most caring, considerate, professional vet I have ever seen. Today our beloved furry family member was ready to move on to her next life. I am not sure we were ready for her to go. The staff at small animal care made this the most easiest, compassionate, professional, and considerate thing for us. They even came to our house so she would be at ease, relaxed and gently went to sleep and ended her pain. They have worked as our vet for a few years now and have always been top notch. I cannot say enough positive things about this clinic. They have made me a lifetime customer. If you need anything for your pet, take them there. No questions asked. They will get the best care.

They truly do have the best intentions for the family and pet. We had been bringing buddy (American Cocker) to Care for over 7 years and the staff were always so welcoming and helpful. Even buddy seemed to enjoy the staff as well. He came there for hotel stays, annual checkups, and teeth work when needed. We had always received the best care and when we almost lost buddy in 2016, Dr. Rieb did everything and brought him back to us. For that I am eternally grateful. Because of that we enjoyed 4 more years with our beloved Buddy. For our children, Buddy was all they knew. He was our other child, our best friend, our companion. At the end, when we had to make the hardest decision for anyone, and ease buddy's pain, Angie and Dr. Rieb were there. They allowed us the time and help we needed to get through it. I am uncertain if I will ever own a dog again because of the emptiness loss brings. But, in the event that my family does, I will always, and only go to Dr. Rieb and his staff at Care Small Animal Hospital. They are the best!

On Friday, our lil Yorkie was holding her foot up and in pain. Last minute, Dr. Rieb and his staff took Sophie in and removed what turned out to be a bee stinger. This is not the first time Dr. Rieb and staff have been so attentive to our little girl's needs - and they have been many. We always know our pets are getting the best care at Care Animal Hospital. We appreciate the follow up calls and reminders for routine care. Professional and caring staff all around!
