How to Save Money at Twin Oaks Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Absolutely no place like Twin Oaks. Not only does my mini golden doodle get so excited to see her friends (the vet techs & the front desk ladies) but I trust every single person there. They take such good care of her, and always make this Mama feel better about anything going on. They are quick to get us in with any issues and ALWAYS respond to me quickly and help anyway that they can. I drive over an hour and pass many other places I could go, but never. We have found a home at Twin Oaks & it’s not the dreaded place for us to go. They are all very knowledgeable and take their time with my girl. If you aren’t apart of the Twin Oaks family you are missing out!

Our vet was very friendly and loved our little kittens. She was very knowledgeable and personable. They were even available for contact afterward for no extra charge. Our vet said that she preferred to stay out of the billing and prices so she can be free to suggest the care that the animal needs rather than try to provide a cheap alternative diagnosis which may be wrong, which I appreciated a lot. The reception area was neat and organized for a clinic where the patients aren't always so neat and organized. Took great care of our kittens and the momma, will definitely be coming back.

This place has been taken over by a new group and Dr Silver is unfortunately no longer there. I had 2 dogs seen for wellness visit. Did not check weight on one. No temp on either. They hurt my elder dog (schnauzer/toy poodle mix) with multiple attempts at a heart worm test until I had to step out to see what was going on because I could hear her crying in the back. Vet suggested I sedate her next time so they can get this test. Never have I in her 13 years of life had to do this and before they always did the test in the room. Assuming the vibe from my elder dog made my younger dog (medium labradoodle) sense something because she had untypical behaviors towards the staff on exam such as growling and appearing very nervous. I have been using Twin Oaks for at least 10 years and have never had this type of experience on a wellness visit. I will now be searching for a new provider. If dogs act strangely towards a place or person, there’s usually a reason. Staff were all friendly and polite but my labradoodle has never growled at anyone or anything so this seemed like a red flag.

I am physically sick over the experience I had at this vet. This business prides themselves on “same day affordable urgent care” & “ provide comprehensive treatment plan and help you with any financial concerns you may have”. What I experienced today is the the polar opposite of this. Dr. Rebecca Houser & Stephanie (LVT) made this event with my pet, her puppies and myself even more traumatizing with how they handled and treated us. Spending over $300 on Thursday just to be sent home with the advice of “keep a close eye on her”. Then another $240 the very next day at 8 am when we were in the office. They did not provide me with a comprehensive treatment plan. They actually presented me with 3 options, surrendering my pet and her 2 puppies, the 2nd option was surrendering the puppies and spaying my pet and the third option which is ABSOLUTELY LUDICROUS was euthanizing my pet and her 2 puppies. These 3 options were then given to me in writing. Stephanie even had the audacity to put herself between me and the door at the end of our visit as if I was going to leave without paying my bill. My pet was still in the patient room as well. She even followed me to my vehicle for a signature! Dr. Houser, she insisted on a C-section Friday after just seeing us Thursday for our first visit. If she would have told me this information 24 hours prior on Thursday when we were in the office we would have our 2 healthy puppies, healthy mom, no problem or questions! Instead she sent us home on Thursday advising me to “keep a close eye on her” and taking my $300+ dollars. For us to then just be back in the office Friday morning. Where they then presented me with an estimate for a C-section of $1,500-1,900 on top of all the additional charges I already paid. That does not sound like their mission statement of “helping you with financial concerns”. They were only concerned about payment and not about the life of my pet or her puppies. They just treated us like literal garbage. This facility and these two individuals have zero compassion, customer service or any genuine care for animals or humans. Dr. Mabry, are you aware of how your customers are being treated? More importantly are you aware of how your patients are being treated? Turned down, patronized and discriminated against at the cost of innocent unborn puppies lives. We lost 2 puppies and putting the mother in danger due to the negligence of your staff, their unwillingness to negotiate the remaining financial cost (approximately $400) and the inability to show compassion in a URGENT situation.
