How to Save Money at Four Paws Animal Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr. Warren has been our vet for the past 30+ years. (She may not appreciate the mention of years, LOL), but it's been this way for a reason. Dr. Warren has seen and treated 10 of our dogs during this time frame. The staff's always kind and Dr. Warren's skill set and compassion are unparalleled. We truly appreciate how she's helped our family over the years. Below is Hopper, Mr Wiggles, and Hugo (all 3 are rescues).

I recently visited Four Paws Animal Clinic for my pet's medical needs, and I must say that my experience was a mixed bag. While the vet technician, Missy, deserves a heartfelt thank you for her understanding and excellent communication skills, I cannot overlook the negative experience I had with Ms. Tracy Wales. First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude towards Missy. She displayed a remarkable level of empathy and compassion throughout the entire process she took the time to listen attentively to my concerns and patiently explained every step of the examination. Her ability to communicate with pet owners, even in stressful situations, is truly commendable. Missy's professionalism and understanding made me feel at ease and reassured that my pet was in good hands. Unfortunately, Ms. Tracy Wales did not meet my expectations. Unlike Missy, Ms. Wales seemed devoid of any compassion or understanding. She failed to acknowledge my concerns and appeared disinterested throughout the examination. Her lack of empathy left me feeling frustrated and unheard, making an already stressful situation even worse. Additionally, Ms. Wales' unprofessional demeanor was disappointing, as she seemed more focused on rushing through the process rather than ensuring my pet received proper care. It is disheartening when a vet, who is supposed to prioritize the well-being of animals, fails to exhibit the necessary qualities that promote trust and confidence. I sincerely hope that Ms. Wales takes this feedback constructively and works towards improving her bedside manner and overall professionalism. In summary, my experience at Four Paws Animal Clinic was saved by the exceptional vet technician, Missy. Her understanding, communication skills, and genuine empathy were exemplary. However, my disappointment with Ms. Tracy Wales and her lack of compassion, understanding, and unprofessional behavior overshadowed the positive aspects of my visit. I hope to see improvements from Ms. Wales in the future, as the well-being of our beloved pets should always be prioritized.

My dogs have had the privilege and blessing of receiving excellent, caring, compassionate, and the VERY BEST care from 4 Paws and Dr. Wales since she and Dr. Warren opened their doors over 2 decades ago! Henri, my cocker spaniel is now receiving the same care and he absolutely LOVES to "go" see the Dr. Wales and the staff at 4 Paws. I appreciate all of the time Dr. Wales spends with Henri, taking time to research how to treat complex issues that have arisen , referring him to competent specialists, and most of taking more time to review details of his "treatment plan" when needed. I would recommend 4 Paws to anyone who cares about their pet's care. Most important: Henri certifies 4 Paws .. 🐶

As always we received great care. This is a busy practice so when you call there will be a little bit of a wait. When they get back to you the technicians ask all the right question. Check in is seamless. I’ve had three separate Vets and they are all very engaging and attentive. We drive from Blythewood even though there are closer options.
