How to Save Money at PawMed Veterinary Urgent Care
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Our dog unfortunately got attacked by another dog. We came in all bloody and stressed - they took our dog back immediately, took the time to ask us if we got bit at all/if we were ok, and showed so much compassion. Once the vet had a chance to look at him, she came out and gave us an update and what she wanted to do. She told us what the price will be too and was super transparent every step of the way. She even took the time to talk us through our own trauma about the situation. Overall, the staff made us feel so much better. We went in near the time they were closing and we never felt rushed. And in great news, our pup is doing just fine. Would recommend!

Wonderful staff and top-notch care at completely fair prices. We came in later in the evening with no problem and no wait time. My kitten had an awful fever and they took great care of him. They were more than willing to answer all of our questions, which we had a whole lot of, and did so without making us feel like we were annoying them. I could tell that they really, truly care about the animals they help. So thankful to have such a great urgent care for our babies so close by!

The staff is so kind and you can tell that they actually really care. The prices are very reasonable as well. We took our German shepherd in for an emergency and they were quick to figure out what was wrong. The doctor explained in detail and gave us our options. Ultimately, we decided that we needed to let her go due to the condition she was in and her age and the doctor and technician we had were amazing. They were so compassionate and made us feel better about the choice we made. They have an awesome after life care company (only going into detail because it may help someone’s decision on if they come here or not but the price is very reasonable, they deliver to your door, the price includes a nice selection of urns, engraving or name plate and a clay paw print there are also other special add ons you can select for a small fee). I can’t say enough great things about our experience and I’m so glad that we happened upon this vet in this difficult time. ♥️

Took my cat here more than once within the last week and everyone in the office was very kind, understanding and attentive to me, my fiancé and our boy. We felt very comfortable and listened too. They were able to treat and gave us many options with prices included. We didn’t feel pressured to make a decision yet they understood the urgency and stress of the situation. If you can’t get in with your vet I highly suggest PawMed.

Took my dog Otis here just today for a pretty gnarly ear infection. Of course it happened on a Sunday when my regular vet isn’t available. I walked in filled out the paper work and was seen within 20 minutes. The whole staff was so accommodating and helpful. They loved on my dog and spent enough time with him to get a good idea of what was going on. They spent 20 minutes with me just going over how to properly clean my dogs ears and administer his meds. I was given clear and specific follow up instructions and was out with an hour and a half. Overall cost was under $400 with exam fee and medications. Really fantastic experience overall and would highly recommend for any acute issues with your animal that require immediate attention but aren’t life or death emergencies.
