How to Save Money at Indian Valley Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Indian Valley is top notch. They helped us with two of our beloved pets crossing the rainbow bridge. The staff is amazing. They are compassionate and caring. If you have an emergency they will get you in asap during their hours. The vet didn’t sugar coat that my sweet baby Cinder was not going to make it and when she passed they were amazing with helping us. With our cat Henry they let us spend as much time as we needed to mourn him. I love this vet.

Had my dog Muri at there office for a senior well visit. Muri has been shaking and I was asking what could be the problem. I had mentioned that my house is now extremely low EMF’s and Trisha and her assistant looked at me like I’m some kind of nut. I truly believe she had no idea what I was talking about so she ignored it. Most medical diseases these days originate from electro magnetic fields which come from wireless devices. Odette Suter DVM Ask the vet on you tube has a great deal of knowledge on this and how to protect your pets. Obviously Trisha is not educated in this area. It’s even funny that her cat is called Nikola Tesla. Tesla is the founding father of AC electricity which he himself later realized the extreme negative health effects it causes to living organisms like animals, humans and the environment. During the next hundred years the effects on living beings is getting much worse. Lymphoma in animals is the number effect of the human made radiation. Leukemia in children is number one with humans. Trisha needs to educate herself on this subject because it’s only getting much worse as 5G progresses. I’m a building biologist and an expert in this field. Been doing this for 40 years now. I help suffers all around the world who suffer from a condition called EHS. Animals also suffer from this but they obviously can’t tell you how they feel. If you live near power lines or cell towers or have wireless internet your pets feel it. There bodies have what’s called magnetite in there bodies which is iron crystals primarily used for navigating but these iron crystals are greatly affected by external radiation and plays havoc with there bodies which is primarily the reason birds are literally failing from the sky’s and bees are fastly becoming extinct and they are responsible for pollinating 70% of the earths food that we eat. I hope Trisha gets up to speed on this so she can help these poor creatures, if not I will have to look for a Vet that is educated. It’s not only veterinarians it’s also medical doctors in this country who lack the knowledge.

Twenty years after I brought Jesse my cat to Indian Valley Animal Hospital. Dr Carran and Melissa took care of him for his last day. He came there after birth with a bad illness and they cured him. They all signed a card to send to me with their compassion. I am very lucky to have had him for 20 years, and to have had these fine girls help him and me on his final day

I brought my cat here for an unexpected accident that resulted in her needing surgery. I was extremely impressed and grateful with the care my cat received here. The staff and doctor especially truly cares about their patients and it is shown. I will be bringing my sweet girl here in the future for all veterinary care. It was not outrageously priced either, which I greatly appreciated as a college student taking care of her kitty.

I am distraught and disgusted as to how I was treated at IVAH. I had an appointment for 9AM. I always thought it was respectable to be early to appointments. I arrived and walked in at 8:55 AM. Instead of being greeted with open arms, I was scolded for opening the door prior to them opening. I apologized and said we had an appt at 9. Again, I was given an attitude that they were not open yet and there was no doctor and normally the door is locked... but it wasn't so I could take a seat..I did. I continued to get attitude even after mentioning I was confused as to WHY I WAS GETTING AN ATTITUDE... no response to that... but they didn't get the records I e-mailed over 3 times... so I also got an attitude about that. A man walks in to get medication for his cat... also prior to 9AM... and he was welcomed so nicely and was told his animal was their favorite and making it very clear that I was not welcome at this animal hospital. Not only did I have to wake up early, I had to wake up my sick 1 year old, take him to daycare early, walk the dog early so she could get her poop sample.... and still arrived 5 minutes early ... BUT THAT WASN'T THE RIGHT THING TO DO. I moved from Penn Ridge animal hospital bc I thought IVAH being closer would be better (also more expensive) but I am so glad I did not give them a DOLLAR and Penn Ridge welcomed me back with a same day appointment. Your staff is inappropriate, rude, and completely forgot that I AM THE CUSTOMER and how they treated me was uncalled for. DO BETTER! I do not stand for people belittling others and that is what your front desk staff did. UNBELIEVABLE.
