How to Save Money at For Cats Only Veterinary Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Absolutely amazing staff!! We have been coming for years with our 3 cats. Everyone there is so kind and helpful. Our 1 cat has attitude issues and the staff don't bat an eye and treat her amazingly! Highly recommend to everyone with a cat!!

First time appointment for my new kitty. She was treated with gentle attention and care. The vet technician had a positive and lovely, professional attitude with myself, daughter and our kitty. The atmosphere was peaceful and calm. Absolutely, no noise that could increase any cat’s anxiety. Our kitty was given treats to reassure she’s safe. The veterinarian was super professional, pleasant and provided a complete assessment. She was gentle with our kitty with added compliments about her. I really appreciate both staff and the veterinarian. All optional kitty service fees were explained in detailed fashion and didn’t feel forced to “buy in.” I felt confident and completely satisfied with all service performed on our kitty. Worth the drive and time! Thank you so much!! Highly recommended!!😺

I have three cats all cared for by this clinic. They even put up with my dad’s weird comments! (I bring him with to calm the cats on our car rides) My one cat had major oral surgery which was pretty expensive but they were up front and understanding. They gave me a detailed quote for her which gave me time to save up some money. I love this clinic. Everyone is kind and patient. even when one of my cats escaped the carrier!

This place is amazing and very informative when it comes to my two kitties. Pricing for care and testing is reasonable due to the current inflation. Areas are clean, and the staff are caring and friendly. I love our vet she is an amazing individual. Wait time to be seen is also reasonable. Not like some other vet clinics I've been to where we have an appointment and have to wait almost an hr to be seen after scheduled appointment without being notified. They have a senior cat as well. He is adorable. Definitely a chill cat

Dr. Bay was awesome with our kitty! She was very understanding and has such a friendly demeanor. Dr. Bay, the receptionists and technicians are all so kind and helpful. They made sure all of our questions were answered and options were explained thoroughly. We were updated with details while our kitty was under their care. During our initial appointment, the clinic was quiet and peaceful which made for a low-stress visit for our cats. Communication was excellent! We appreciated how patient all staff members were with us and our cats. Based off the pleasant energy of the staff and environment we had complete trust of their care and professionalism. We were grateful to have an important surgery for our cat scheduled promptly. Staff members gave kind compliments to our kitties. Educational pamphlets are available. They made us aware of options to ease our cat's nervousness during future visits. I also love the user-friendly patient portal. We got the vibe that it is an LGBTQIA+ friendly space. My partner and I were very satisfied with their care and want For Cats Only to be our regular vet. Thank you!
